Yeah. I think the favorite returning players for Pogchamps have been Charlie, Lud, and X but X never practices or studies, Charlie doubts him self too much, and Lud takes a lesson almost every week. Okay so no joke...I've been watching xQc lightly for a long time...way before his chess phase...and I'm actually super impressed with his memory recall and puzzle cognition. Like at 1:09:00, Hikaru references the PREVIOUS game, and xQc actually knows exactly the point in the game Hikaru is referring to. His ascent from almost nothing to 1000+ within only a few coaching sessions and some grinding is super impressive. This isn't a dig on xQc...but his every-day content, expressions, and general mannerisms really don't bode high cognition. I get that that's a dig, but it's really not meant to be. Just an honest assessment of how he portrays himself in the day-to-day streams. When in fact, his cognitive ability is super impressive.

I only ever watched him play a horror game and the game was supposed to be guiding you to make the decision of not running everywhere because otherwise the monster will hear you. He interpreted it in the COMPLETE reverse. His conclusion was that he had to haul ass EVERYWHERE ASAP because the monster will always catch him unless he can accomplish the objective quickly enough. He made the strategy work and it was quite impressive. He's surprisingly resourceful.

It's odd that he struggles more with an open board than when there's only a few key pieces left. I don't know about the rest of you guys but I struggle the most when all there's a fuckload of pieces attacking tons of different pieces

when theres many pieces on the board = fewer possible moves for a given piece, some more obvious and easier to spot few pieces remainin on the board= so much more possible moves for a piece, very hard to find which ones the best lets say its a rook endgame, that would be really difficult, because the instructions are just king-rook-pawn, it would be SO much harder to find which king/rook move is the best given so many squares on the board

Very ametuer here , so i know the obvious move is often a wrong one taken in haste. I just dont see a downfall or trap involved and it does indeed seem like the play at hand. And then after making his move , the oppenent moves the rook from the trapped position, further leading me to believe the bishop should have been pushed with anpossible queen take with the bishop after an annattempt at defense with his knight and two checks.
