Not sure anyone has mentioned this as I have not read all the comments but strap in... In the case of a draw or a fade, the club must cut across the surface of the golf ball to create sidespin which is caused by friction between the ball and the club face (grooves increase backspin but do not have much effect on sidespin). The amount of friction is dependent on the amount of contact area between the club face and the ball and the greater the contact area the greater the spin. When the ball is hit well, the contact area is at its greatest and increased by compression of the ball. However, when you thin a ball, the contact area between the club and the ball is minimal (given the ball is hit with the sharp edge of the club only) so the friction / side spin will be negligible, and the ball will generally travel in a direction which is perpendicular to the leading edge of the club i.e. straight. I hope this helps. No thanks required but would'nt mind a signed photo of Barlow in his speedos for the Mrs.

These 18 hole challenges are brilliant as each player has time to come back after a bad hole, whereas one player can have an advantage over 3 or 4 holes if they are playing well and their opponent has a couple of bad shots. Liam just keep producing any type of golf video as they are all entertaining. I'm an avid watcher.
