That first pair of shoes is really cool, it's like roller blading without needing roller blading skills. I'm just a bit disappointed that it runs on batteries, I was hoping it would get power from the walking movement.

It should be able to, but you'd still need to recharge it after a while.

In order for walking to recharge them, they would have to *take* energy from your step instead of adding to it. Imagine walking on a reverse conveyor belt for an hour. It wouldn't be an efficient transfer of power so it would be a huge detriment over a long distance, not to mention the ~5 lbs added to your feet that's effectively doubled by the walking action.

Great video and awesome running to the ginger ninja. I was inspired by Russ's effort to have a look at what Yiannis Kouros did back in the day when he ran some ultramarathon races in Australia. His 1000 mile 10.5 day effort is unbelievable. His insane endurance is shown when he was finishing a full day ahead of 2nd place in the Sydney to Melbourne races 1985-1990.
