I just got into Dragon's Dogma this month and I honestly don't get what everyone's gripe with the ox escort mission is, I thought it was fine. Maybe it's because I played a Mage and I could heal it? I can see how it would be a pain in the ass to have to restart every few minutes because the ox gets shanked. The first time I played DD I didn't like it beause I thought the combat was flashy but shallow (I don't like third person combat), but after giving it another shot it clicked with me and I'm enjoying it quite a lot.

The fight against the ogre represents my entire lategame on my one playthrough. I don't know what I did wrong but I literally just played a warrior, always equipping the highest damage stuff I could find and exploring every corner of the world. An elder ogre didn't even take visible damage.
@Aburaishi

Judging by this video, it looks like consumables are a HUGE part of dealing decent damage in this game. I tend to ignore consumables when I play a game like this, so if you did the same, that might be the reason why your damage was too low for later enemies.
@ivanlagayacrus1891
@ivanlagayacrus1891 Жыл бұрын
@@Aburaishi nah consumables are just strangely op, elder ogres are very end game enemies and the damage calculation is mostly straight subtraction (your attack-their defense=damage) so if you're underlevelled you don't do low damage, you do essentially 0

Unfortunately this games levelling is kinda weird. Whichever class you have equipped at the time of level up increases your stats differently. I think warrior gives most equally assassin gives best atk arch-mage gives best magic atk etc. the amounts decrease the higher the level so it's pretty important to get the right bonuses fast and if your just going through the game normally and not taking advantage of specific class leveling you'll start to fall behind and you won't be able to get *optimal* damage output for late game enemies without consumables ironically if you want to be a big buff warrior with a massive sword you should be spending your early game as an assassin.

@@mustached_villain6354 warrior is fine leveling as itself instead of assassin, it gains 5 Atk per level instead of 6, but it gains much more hp and defense which is important due to warriors lack of defensive options. I would still level assassin and fighter for autonomy, bloodlust, and vehemence augments to massively buff strength tho, especially when stacked with warriors own augments Generally class stats only matter if you swap from playing physical to magical or you're trying to minmax, which is pretty miserable

If I didn't utterly suck at this game and most games in general, I would attempt this character build myself since the most fun aspect of it for me was always picking up my pawns and throwing them around. It could be that I'm just dumb and haven't played the kind of video games that do let you pull off more of this kind of stuff. There is a MUCH easier way to get the Bloody Knuckle. Go to the area where there is a chained up Gore Cyclops and put down some bait. Then literally let the summoned Undead Dragon fight the Cyclops. Eventually the dragon will be almost dead, and you either A) have hit it prior with your fists or B) hit the heart and finish it off, it's probably at 0 HP and many times the Cyclops cannot finish it off. IF you get lucky they will both die in the end and you get tons of items and exp. Once you push the item that got forged up a level, switch from Hard back to Normal, then back to Hard so to reset the game. Do the start of the game, go back to BBI, and do it again for the second knuckle.

@biscuitsticks3274 Haha, I did this run beforehand myself. I had to figure out how to kill an Undead Dragon because my self-imposed stipulations was to be totally offline, without a pawn, on Hard, and unable to go to Gran Soren until I beat Daimon properly. I had used the strategy before on prior BBI runs and decided it was the best case scenario here. The RNG can be a bit weird, but if you hang out in the stairwell near the entrance you can just watch them fight. Even if the dragon only dies, you can get what you want and just leave with the Cyclops alive. My first run was a bit hectic, as the dragon almost got me as I ran in to hit him the one time to finish him. Had to hurry cuz he had just taken down the Gore Cyclops and I wanted the loot from both.

Dragon's Dogma is a diamond in the rough, but itself is still a rough diamond. What it excels in is ultimately limited by the small scope of the game's world, which by mid-game, becomes anorexically lacking in content. The devs tried to build tall, but they didn't build tall enough.
@jackhazardous4008
@jackhazardous4008 Жыл бұрын
The problem was they ran out of money after they finished the combat system, and a lot of the midgame content were either cut or drastically unfinished. Still gave us the best combat system in decades though

Sudoku? That's funny but not nearly as much fun. Personally, I'd climb it's back where it can't reach you and pound it to death. You may have to take stamina potions, Shrooms, or Liquid Vim to keep from falling off. There's one in the encampment & before you fight it, get the quest from the board, "Eye for an Eye" as it counts as one of the three. Most people rush past this to do battle.

Ey I'm attempting this run currently, but btw there is another way to obtain 2 bloody knuckle rings without as much farming possibly, and without using a different file, and its what I did, it does technically break the fist "only" rules though start the game, buy some throwblasts, buy 2 iron swords (easiest to upgrade while dragonforged), get the dlc stuff to sell and get the perseverance ring and keep the dragons ire, start hard mode, make sure you grab the notice board quests in bbi, and then progress until you get to Gran Soren, switch to Assassin to hold a Bow (Dragons Ire) and a sword (Iron Sword), find Fournival, buy the makers arrow and some of the xp boosting talismans, go to back to bbi, specifically barrochs bridge, progress the zone on the right until you get a tunnel with bats and 2 ore veins, kill the bats, and break the ore veins with a throwblast to get lava rocks, then progress the next zone to the big chained cyclops thats on the right of the circular room, open the chest next to his right foot, if its rancid bait meat, grab it, if not, leave it, go to the little hidden room across from the cyclops near the rubble under the stairs, open that chest, if its rancid bait meat grab it, don't if not, teleport out or run out and go back to the zone with barroch, go up to the broken bridge across from barroch, make sure you kill all the spiders and snakes, go to the right of the chest at the end of the bridge, a little bit ahead of it, but not ahead of the broken pillar, place the rotting bait meat, make sure the cursed dragon doesn't see you or notice you, walk up to the ledge, use the xp boosting talisman and ready the Makers Finger, aim for the dragons back, inbetween the wings, and oneshot the cursed dragon, you should have a relatively high chance of dragon forging the 2 iron swords, you have a better chance of getting them dragonforged the more upgraded they are, but they are really easy to upgrade, if you don't get them dragonforged, set difficulty back to normal, quit out and then start hard mode again to restart, and repeat all the previous steps until both swords are dragonforged, once they are, go back to Barroch and upgrade *One* of the swords for the quest to get the bloody knuckle ring, make sure you don't upgrade the other one, it is needed for the other bloody knucle ring, set difficulty back to normal, quit, start hardmode for the reset, go to bbi, get the notice board quests, go to Barroch and upgrade the other dragonforged iron sword to get the second bloody knuckle ring, I had to do this about 7 or 8 times because I got unlucky with the dragonforging multiple times, took about 4 hours (purely because of carriage mission), but you could do it in maybe 2 with about 3 or 4 loops if you're lucky, I thought of this way myself and then tested it and it does work, plus you get a ton of gold selling the excess dlc gear every loop; and about 280,000 ish xp from the cursed dragon

It was a true adventure…
