Judging by how small you kept your builds I expected this run to have taken a lot longer than it actually did. The mvp of the run being the green modules, of course. Very impressive how easy you made it look

One combination I like: * Rampant mod, in Nocturnal mode. * Remove spitters entirely. * Armoured biters mod. Ideally tweaked to be highly fire-resistant. * No (placed) accumulators. * No (placed) modules. * No construction bots in roboports. (In your personal armor is ok.) * As high research cost as you can stand. * As low resource richness as you can stand. This has a bunch of interesting effects: * Solar is still very useful... but as a help only. * Laser turrets are far less useful, due to power consumption issues. * Laser creep is... kind of doable, but requires a _lot_ of steam power. * Old-school turret-close-to-wall setups make sense again. * Wall redundancy is a must, & engineer access to the walls is important. * When you need to upgrade defenses shifts back from 'when you hit evolution' to 'when the prior defenses are starting to get overwhelmed'. * You're constantly fighting against time (& pollution). * Your factory needs a fair bit of space & resources, meaning you actually need to grab (& keep!) a fair bit of area. IMO spitters changed the game, and not for the better... Mind you, I'm also still salty about the end-of-belt mechanics change.

Small tip for you since it looked like you were having trouble placing your power poles along your initial perimeter defences: power poles can be dragged next to any buildings that require power and will place themselves to provide full coverage with no overlap
