Hi - I am in a very similar situation to you - aimed for a sub 3.20 marathon last outing (my GFA time) , had let the basics drift a little - came in in 3.24 and had a really awful day - one where you question why you take on such challenges. However, its the process I love, and if you follow your knowledge then the growth happens. Its not magic, its a process. So, I am using the parkruns as a lose benchmark, and doing my reps and tempo runs, with a long run - and aiming for a couple of Autumn half marathons - always an honest race distance to really show you where you are. I have subscribed and look forward to seeing your progress.

Thank you so much. It sounds like you have much of it worked out. I think, as you say, that it is important not to let the basics drift. Good luck with your own journey towards your goals. Thanks for the sub 👍
