Hitmonchan and elemental punches would have made things easier, and abra is fire red/leaf green you could teach it tri attack like in yellow helps.

You were very underleveled during the elite 4, you could've evolved that Dragonair if you grinded exp

True! I thought it would be better that way for the most part. A big problem with dragonsir though is that it's exp curve is pretty big. It takes double the amount of exp for it to level up than any other party member, or at least it felt that way. For the sake of my deadline I decided level 50 was good enough
