1. I never healed up magikarp after the rival fight, I unfortunately had to white out (going back to the previously saved file before the rival fight) and beat him with just ivysaur. NO HEALING WAS DONE IN THIS PROCESS.
2. I released hitmonlee in the PC so I had room for aerodactyl, I did not place any Pokemon in the PC for a free heal, so NO HEALING WAS DONE IN THIS PROCESS.

You can always edit the Pokecenter building so you cannot enter it with normal means.

Technically, you have infinite healing and PP as soon as you beat the Rocket Grunt in Cerulean City. In the Underground Path (both of them in fact), there are hidden items that have a chance to respawn after you walk 1500 steps. It takes forever, but you do have infinite Potions, anti-status items and Ethers. The same is true for mushrooms in Mt. Moon.

Why Gyarados use surf on Sabrina? Gyarados has bad sp. attack, and all of Sabrina's team have very high sp. defense.. especially Alakazam. That fight would've gone way smoother if you relied on Gyarados' physical instead. Same with Dragonite in the champion battle... Dragon claw is special in gen 3, and Dragonite has 134 attack and adamant nature.. Fly would've OHKO'd Alakazam. Other than that, nice run mate.

weirdly, at least in gen 4, i know PP isn't really as big of an issue as you'd think. between a forced heal allowing you to overlevel if you reallllllly want to before getting pokeballs even and just alot of items found in the main story to increase damage you can actually beat gen 4 without ever using a pokecenter with very little effort ( though does require some planning ). basically saying this challenge doesn't work in gen 4 ( least heart gold the only game i've done this in ) as it's kinda easy to cheese/brtue force it

Sonething im sure you have forgotten during this run ( i guess because of stress and panic lol) is that gyarados had x4 weakness to electric type moves, so thunder was probably gonna kill each time , rhydon has x4 weakness to water type moves, so ofc surf would one shot, and at last charizard has X4 weakness to rock type moves, so yeah he was gonna go down:) vongrats on the run though i was buttclenching the final fight too haha

I was thinking about this type of challenge myself. Gen 3 is probably the only one where you could apply this. Starting with Gen 4, you can just farm Leppa and Oran berries to circumvent the problem of no HP/PP.

I don't recall if you can reteach TM's that Pokémon have learned before and forgotten via the move relearner or not, but if you could then you could easily farm for tiny mushrooms to have infinite relearns. Also, while sleep powder was definitely clutch once you get access to the move relearner or if you forgo it early for poison powder that could help in training up your low-level Pokémon with less HP and important move pp loss, especially if you can use the relearner on Thief/tm moves.

Magikarp, the Kantonian Fossils, the Game Corner Gift Shop encounters, Eevee and Lapras. Magikarp is located in Route 3 in a Pokémon Center and can be purchased from an NPC. The same is true for the Pokémon in the Game Corner Gift Shop in Celadon City. Aerodactyl can be obtained as an Old Amber in Pewter City whereas Omanyte and/or Kabuto can be obtained as fossils in Mt. Moon. For the two out of three Fossil Pokémon you can obtain in a vanilla playthrough, you need to defeat Koga first because all of them get revived in Cinnabar Island. As for the other two, Eevee is sitting on a desk in the building next to the Department Store in Celadon and Lapras is a Gift Pokémon you can obtain from Silph Co. in Saffron City after the Rival Fival battle.
