So excited for the run! May I suggest FireRed with only one Surskit? You get Bubble to start so Brock isn't terrible, but the stats make the mid-to-late game challenging and fun

For a challenge that may not be doable: No items allowed in or out of battle. Any Pokémon with restrictions. If you have 6 then no evolutions. 3 Pokémon can evolve to final form. 1 Pokémon you can choose anything even legendary Pokémon to start but that’s it

@@bruce4139 Spiritomb has very low base speed and hp, and aside from TM shadow ball, his best ghost type move in gen 4 is ominous wind, which is pretty good, but not base 80 power like shadow ball. Also, Spiritomb's coverage basically consists of TM Psychic, TM Shock Wave, TM Rock Tomb, and TM Silver Wind, pretty good moves but not that great except Psychic.

@@GM.Nobody Some areas can make the future grinds easier too. It might benefit MDB to know that in Nimbasa City, the Big Stadium and Small Court has number and level-dependent Trainers tied to the number of badges he collects. It may not be ideal for long-term grinding, but it's a start.

I’m surprised you didn’t use an Axew, the earliest level you can catch them at is Level 30, and by then they know Dragon Claw. Also, could you do Pokémon Crystal with only one Aipom?

Yeah I considered it but you get him so late and there’s not a huge benefit in gen 5 in having a dragon type. They aren’t prevalent enough to worry about. The team built had decent enough type coverage

You know, I was curious how challenging this would be, as Mawile's stats wouldn't be too bad for Gen 3, with the only danger being Fire types. Then I realized that its movepool is kinda garbage, which I guess isn't unexpected for the earlier generations. As a lot of Pokemon had really bad move pools back then. Well, besides the one true deity that is Dunsparce, master of all!!

@@trainershade1937 Exactly. I do like Mawile but it's one of many that hit it's stride more in Gen 6. Speaking of which, Early Game X, Dunsparce nearly owned me. Got a shiny weedle though, so all good. And isn't steel weak to ground and fighting as well.

@@13JackStorm Yes, however Mawile (and a lot of Steel types) has some good defense. So Ground and Fighting isn't as big a concern, seeing as they're both exclusively physical. Mawile's special defense on the other hand is rather bad, with both Hoenn and Kanto having Fire gyms that can act as roadblocks for it (along with Maxie's Camperupt being another potential problem Pokemon).

And in regards to low special, that explains why my Mega Mawile got KO'D by a scalding sharpedo on Alpha Sapphire battle frontier thing.

@@13JackStorm The physical/special split happened in Gen 4. It also added in a lot of good moves for a lot of underwhelming types, whilst adjusting movepools, making a ton of Pokemon a LOT better. The best title I can give Gen 4 is that it's the generation that "fixed" Pokemon.

I really likehow Sawk was never planned to be in the final team but still made it in. Especially with how early you caught it. It was just good even under leveled using sturdy to even get a second turn. It makes me wonder if the final fights could've gone smoother if Sawk was properly leveled for it.

WAIT! Does this mean that MDB is actually going to use Reshiram for the final battles? This is a run where he has more options for Pokemon to use and due to the rules for these runs Reshiram isn't omitted because well...the moves it's starts are the only ones it can use upon capture. Unless he bans using Reshiram, which might happen, we might see him use a legendary for the first time in these runs! Also when is the Buneary only run going to happen??

Mmh. Imo Aron is too strong. Basically no neutral Attacks Touch it and it has a pretty good Movepool early on. But Gen 3's gyms Match Up very Well against it. You've got a foghting Gym. An electric Gym with strong Special attackers, a für Gym with Lots of Ground moves, and of course a Lot of Water. It would be pretty interesting

I loved this challenge and I hope to see more similar ones especially in gen 4 and gen 5. The only criticism about the video is, there are moments where the battle footage is speed up way faster that it should have and it kinda frustrated me not being to experience the battles more like in the other pokemon challenge videos. Overall I loved and keep up the great work, looking forward to next week's challenge.

I’ve been holding onto this callable idea and wondered how good it may be. Every Pokémon has a randomly selected move from their learn set and they can only use that move Hms are allowed It’s different for every Pokémon in a line You can grind on wild Pokémon to get the higher level move Say the move for rattata was selected was super fang and it could only use super fang.
