You know I'm glad I had a chance to revisit this later as a transgender person. I think professor R feels like a well meaning but flawed portrayal of a trans character. Like some of the story does lean into outdated trans tropes like having pre and post transitions being talked about as two different characters or leaning into trans trauma stuff, and the complicated relationship between queer identity and recreational and/or illicit drugs but its still has some genuine moments that work well. Ironically it feels like mid 2000s trans representation still not quite where id like it to be, but it still works within the story itself. York being very upfront about saying "dont just judge people because they are trans, this just happens to be a game about murder investigations in a quirky town" does help a lot even if he isn't perfect at his allyship to the trans community. It was like that in twin peaks too it's heart was in the right place even if it had its problems. I think the game has enough merit on its own im willing to look past the short comings, but it definitely solidifies the first game as the better game in totality. Like even within the same series, Thomas being in love with George was handled better since he's not the only one fawning over George and aside from the reveal being one of the sacrifices is a man it just fits into the story without it being a big deal. There's definitely still a lot of cool stuff in the sequel and the quirky charming small town with fun interesting characters, many of which have a darker side which complicates things. I understand why people have some issues with it, I think that critique is valuable and good to think about, but it doesn't fundamentally spoil the experience or anything like that. It's got some rough edges for sure but I think its at least trying it's best.

The whole "the protagonist is the evil human" is such a bullshit plotline. Completely ruined the game for me.

for me it just feels kinda whiplashy some of that I think is because I fell behind on your videos, so I ended up getting everything with only a few nights of gap instead of weeks, but having two outros of how excited you were for her to be back, and then the next outro begins with "yeah so we talked about it and we're breaking up" just comes as the strangest rug pull (which I think would make for a great setup in a drama regardless of how non-drama the situation is) either way, I'm glad it's an amicable break. I totally get where you're coming from too. haven't had a 14 year relationship, but my best friend and I dated for 3 years around a decade ago so it makes perfect sense to still care about an ex as long as the circumstances hold up
