As a musician, ledian reminds me of my favourite mode of the major scale, lydian. It's so full of expression. Ledians design matches my mental idea of the lydian mode so perfectly, but pokemon made it such a bad pokemon to have on your party. It really upsets me.

This makes me realize how little I’ve seen the Silver sprites since I almost always play Crystal. I miss version exclusive sprites in the shift to 3D. Still think Stunky in HGSS would be cool, but at least we’ll see the skunk shine in the eventual Diamond exclusive run too.

I have an interesting idea: Can you beat Pokemon (insert version here) with only early route Pokemon? Beat a Pokemon game with only Pokemon that you can find before the first Gym Battle. Maybe start with Yellow Version since you can only get one starter in that version.

That one varies wildly in difficulty, depending on what game you do it with. Some games have surprisingly good Pokemon available in the early routes. Yellow... would make an interesting one to start with. It's actually one of the harder ones. I second this notion.

all those Gen 2 sprites are just so beautiful especially in the first game I ever played as a kid, Crystal, when they also move. Shame they hid so many version exclusives in Gen 2 late or in places where you don't usually go. Also they sadly didn't give the gym leaders many Gen 2 Pokemon. Jasmine with Scizor and Skarmory instead of those freaking Magnemites would be sick. And Bugsy could have Yanma and Ledyba/Ledian easily instead of those silly cocoons

Challenge idea: randomize a pokemon game of your choice, pick 1 of the 3 randomized starters and then use only pokemon that start with the same letter if a pokemon evolves into a mon that doesn't start with the selected letter, you cannot use the evolved form if a pokemon evolves into a mon that does start with the letter, but currently doesn't it can be leveled up using an exp share, but not used until it evolves ex. selected letter N, Seedot cannot be used but can be evolved into Nuzleaf, but cannot be evolved into Shiftry

A challenge I have been trying in Silver is "type mirror" challenge: "beat each gym leader with a team of only one pokemon of the badge type, then nickname the pokemon after the leader". So far, I haven't really completed it. I had to lossen the rules a lot: I stated allowing Ditto to be used in any battle, I started allowing items in battle, I used a second Dragonair for Claire, for the League I couldn't do it without the whole team. I haven't started the Kanto section yet, not sure what I will do there. But! Lediba beat Bugsy on its own and that was satisfying.

I'm using a delibird in my silver playthrough and it's actually super useful with fly and icy wind! It's overlevelled to match stats with the party, but having that type combo really helped me through a few fights! Lance especially

I have an idea for a fun challenge, One that means you could even use Drowzee. Can you beat Pokemon Black (Or any game from gen's 5 ,6 or 7) with only the move Assist? Purrloin learns Assist at level 6 so it'd be the starter, Then if you get a male Purrloin you can breed it with other's to get more Pokemon. I think this would be a great wacky challenge since the more Pokemon on your team the more random the move is. For any that don't know Assist uses a random move known by any of the user's party Pokémon, With some exceptions. So even Pokemon that can't use Assist would still be useful if they have good moves that Assist can use. Drowzee is in the Human-Like Egg Group so If you want one with Assist you'd need a Spinda since they're in the Field and Human-Like Egg Groups so can breed with Purrloin and Drowzee. You could also use a Chimchar as a starter if you give it Assist as an Egg Move, They're also in the Field and Human-Like Egg Groups so a male one can breed the move into any Pokemon with Assist.

I still have my b2w2 with only hidden grotto pokemon! - you can use the randomizer to change the starters to sap sipper marill, rattled dunsparce or scrappy lillipup (The starters are the ranch's grotto encounters which is the 'closest' one) - you can only use pokemon found in a grotto - you can get more than just one team (6+ pokemon and you can mix and match)

Okay so I posted this idea on the hm video last week but thought I update the findings on this video for engagement lol. Basically you had said that platinum wasn't possible due to the hm moves requirements being unable to hit ghost in the third gym. So after a lot of looking did I fund that in genetion 4 can a Goldeen learn waterfall naturally at lv 37 so if you could get to route 209 (which I don't remember if you can or not) could you get the good rod and catch a Goldeen to train up under the caviot that it's a hm move that you haven't received your license to use outside battle yet. Thought it might be interesting maybe I'll confirm it by next week by Replaying platinum which was my first pokemon game actually :) Ps love your content

A properly trained leveled up Delibird with the proper moveset makes Lance easy. Fly. Protect, Hidden Power, Icy Wind/ Blizard/ or Ice Beam with Sharp Beak or Nevermelt Ice. Of course I level up all my Elite4 team to level 65 first.

Bill's grandather's mini quest always struck me as odd. He talks about the new Pokémon he's heard of in Johto, but then onlt ask about Kanto Pokémon for evelolution stones. And Lickitung isn't even a stone evelution Pokémon as of yet. I get GF wanting to push the Sun Stone and the two new Eeveelutions, but gating the original evelition stones to late Kanto is terrible.
