Let's goo! 15:33. That's blistering speed. Amazing work on the workouts and the videos. Maybe you can go for the sub 15 minute 5k? I mean, at least that's what I would go for in a situation like this. It's videos like these that really inspire me to train for XC season and to break 18 minutes in the 5k, 11 minutes for the 2 mile, and the classic 5 minute mile. Keep up the amazing work guys, way to go Andy!

I ran my first sub 20 (19:54) this weekend! I have the same shoes as you. Next goal 19:30!!! I’m age 34 so not sure how much more improvements I can make. But I also started running plan for a few months only.

if you're doing sub-20s at age 34 and you're just starting, then there are PLENTY of improvements you can make! But sub-20 is really good for amateur runners.

Amazing effort Andy, very inspiring. I'm 61 and have been running for 43 years. When I was in my 40's I trained for a 5k and ran 27 mins PB. Recently I did 2 Ultra's and now want to try and bring my 5k back down to 28 mins. I have trained specifically for it and knocked 2mins 30sec off my recent PB to go under 30 mins. I know I can get there with continued specific training. Bring it on!

Incredible job, Andy! I was cheering you on out loud whilst watching the video (I do this in every Running Channel video that features a race - anyone else?) I was training for a 5k but got sidelined by an injury so for now I'm focusing on recovery and returning to my previous volume without re-injury. Got a half-marathon on the books for October and hoping that will still be doable🤞

Usually, I get injuries that put me behind my PB. By the way, what shoes did you use in this run? What running shows could you suggest to me to replace my current Nike streakfly?

3 hours driving for a 5k?? That cannot be good on the legs. Ive travelled some long miles for races but always at least with 16 hours or more to shake out and recover after the drive. Fantastic result though, really cool to get this insight into your training/racing 👌🏼

I'm in a similar situation! Looking at my old parkrun times from a decade ago where I ran 24:X or 23:X when I was completely out of shape. Now I'm running regularly but 25 minutes seems like a mountain to climb. I'll get there.

15m33s is crazy fast 👍💪 at this pace I can do 1 Km maybe. Well done Andy! I rarely run 5 Km races any more but it's a distance that I enjoy, I like running fast (within my abilities 😀 ) . Maybe next year I will focus on getting better at 5 Km up to half marathon but probably no marathons.

I refer you to the story of retired grandmother Michelle Rohl, 58 years old, who qualified on Friday for the US Olympic 20km Race Walk team this past Friday evening in Eugene, OR at the US team trials. I'm almost 56 and, with my wife and daughter, we are all beginning training together to improve our health and fitness. It has only been a week, and change is difficult (darn, that Newton's Third Law) but we will persevere. Well done, Andy!
