Leave the wedges alone around the green if nothing is in your way and get the 8 iron out, use like a putter. I have dropped a few shots doing this.

Just a note that your GIR number is when you hit a green in 2 (par 4) or in 3 (par 5). So getting that number higher will probably be more about your driving and irons rather than your chipping. So close to breaking 90 - fingers crossed for Episode 5! Great long putt by the way - wish I could get a few more of them to drop !!
@TheJazzyGolfer3 жыл бұрын
Hey Tim, thanks for that! In this episode my driving was good but although I'd had good lies / positions to chip onto the greens, I was normally missing or coming up short so sadly, I think it is my chipping! Really glad you liked the episode and thanks so much for the kind words about the putting, I think that's what's been saving me a lot recently!

Have you watched golf sidekick youtube videos on breaking 90. It's less a skills based thing and much more a mindset thing. Has helped me move from being a low 90s golfer to a mid 80s regularly and I have never had a lesson. The main tip being stop thinking of par or greens in regulation as if you are a pro, you aren't and neither am I. Bad shots will happen but so will good ones. Add one to the par of every hole and aim to two putt or better, something you are clearly capable of. So a par 5 becomes a par 6 where you aim to get on the green in 4, par 4 becomes a par 5 where you aim to get on in 3, etc. If you play the course as a par 90 instead of a par 72 you will be even less stressed! That's just one tip he has, there are so many more!

I broke 100 this year when golfing on my own. Then I broke 95 again while golfing on my own. I’m so sensitive that if the person or persons I’m golfing with are complaining or having a bad game it effects me. Golfed today with my best friend and we didn’t break 100 but we enjoyed each other’s company.

Good luck! Breaking 90 is mostly about eliminating double bogeys. Chipping and putting will help with that. If you play a fade/slice, do you tee up on the right side and aim at the left center of the fairway? That should help with the FH stat.

Great job! You're on the cusp! You can either get a few more pars (likely long game getting to the green, or chipping for up and downs), or reduce your double/triples (is there a common cause?). Keep working on process, focus one shot at a time, and you will definitely get there! For me, regularly breaking 90 is hampered by blowup holes / penalties! It's coming down though, GIR going up. What a game! Great progress, nice draw with the driver there!

Ball striking looks loads better 💪🏻 great progress right there 👏 Chipping you seem to deaccelerate at the ball and almost stab at it, trust the swing and be as smooth as your other shots. I used to do it loads, my chipping is the strongest part of my game now 💪🏻

Agree with a few comments here about the stats .. how many shots were effectively recovery shots i.e. those like the shot from the deep rough back to the fairway? .. work to eliminate those from your game and you'll be well under 90 and then you'll start to see the wood for the trees with the stats. Also like others are said .. you need to understand your stats ... if you miss the fairway or green by an inch, that counts as a miss even though it's made no difference to your score. Also 3 putts from 6 feet is much worse than 3 putts from 60 feet. Be a little more lenient with your stat collection to get a truer appraisal of where your game is really at.
@shoooooooes3 жыл бұрын
Better late than never for posting, right? Keep working on your slice, it'll straighten out. And keep in mind, if your fairways missed are only slightly off and playable, it isn't necessarily a bad shot! You can take some of that to the greens it .. seeing that you putted a few from the fringe. Yes, technically it's a missed green, but your putting! Numbers don't lie, but try putting some things into perspective, and keep up the great work!!

Play off the red tees, hit irons off every tee and you'll break 90 easy
@ashleywalls40973 жыл бұрын
I have started to only hit driver when really needed. I have found that a smooth 5 wood or 5 iron will often put me in position to hit a nice full second shot that I really like. Find a fav club and try to hit to that distance for approaches.
