I build caravans. We use 20mm Styrofoam for the insulation. Get it into every nook and cranny.

So if you didn't have the vin of the old van, how much more difficult would it be to get it registered? Coz in reality the only part of the old van youve used is part of the chassis. Oh and the tare weigjt thatll be listed on the compliance plate take into consideration the extra weight of the future fit out???

From what I heard it would have to be inspected all over and engineered. I spoke to my local roads and registration and they okayed everything before hand. Yep weights will come into consideration..

So is the make still a Coronet? Or does the new plate just reflect that it's home-built (for lack of a better term)?

It’s still a coronet, has the entire original chassis still and same dimensions..
