I know people say Springtails aren't a neccessity, however if you really want your terrarium to last a long time, as you said they will stop pretty much all the mold growth, and they'll eat the decaying plant leaf matter and poo it out as great nutrients to keep a continous cycle of plant growth, otherwise they could run out of nutrients.

Cool project! There is a big difference between a closed ecosystem like the one from 1960 and a terrarium, the first has to be airtight for it to work. Taking moss from nature is prohibited in a big part of Europe by the way, so always check what you may or may not do in your country.

Cool video! Please always remember, if you want to pick moss from nature , pick a little amount of them from various places . Since moss grows really slow and if you pick huge amount of moss from one place , it would take so much time to regrow , even they can dry at that place . I was wondering about bugs. I would get my drainage rocks from the yard until they started growing things in my plants. Then I was advised to bake my rocks first to eliminate bugs. My family still jokes about me cooking rocks. Thankyou for being True in all you do. Much Love

definitely no need to bake the rocks lol. any hitchhiker bugs wont make much of a difference and if it bothers you too much you can always just wipe the rocks beforehand, definitely do not cook rocks
