you managed to find the only version of the B5 Passat that is worth owning. diesel manual. it gets rid of all of the major issues that plagued that platform. the 1.8T and V6 were very high maintenance engines, the automatic was absolutely terrible. so many of those ended up in the wreckers for those items. Percy is a solid old car.

I live near the ladybower, you should’ve gone and visited the B29 Bomber aeroplane crash site near the snake pass. Good walk and interesting to see!

This would have been so good if it was Alex vs Jack vs Ethan and they all had to buy a car before making the journey. Nevertheless, great video!

Weird that I live in Glossop and Snakes Pass is on my doorstep, properly take it for granted. Just avoid it in the snow 😂

Alex is the real winner here... Not only because he got Percy out of it (will love seeing the journey you take that Passat through) but also because I don't consider Uber & co public transportation. A cab would've been different because, while you can request them through apps and so on, most of the times you'll just flag them down. For next challenge, I feel like there should be a rule about cars, meaning, if they need to get a cab, it has to be as a last resource (like they did), for the last section of the challenge, but they have to find it on the street and flag them down, no apps

Not a bad attempt at the chesterfield accent 🤣 “Tha not from up eya tho so Tha Carnt do it reyt” Wish I knew you was near us would of come licked the Passat window

In the end Alex won. When there was no bus after the train got late and they didn't get the other one the miserablility of public transport was proven. Taking an Uber, a car, to beat a car is just proving that cars are much more comfortable and easier to travel with. Love your content, though! Please never stop!

I walked Derwent Edge around the same time this would have been filmed, would highly highly recommend to anybody who hasn't done the route already. Also, snake pass is absolutely incredible.

people say that public transport is quicker, but when it goes wrong - which let's be honest in the UK it is rather often, it turns into a catastrophe

Did you enjoy the Snake pass? There's a lot of great roads around this part of the world, I'm lucky to live up here. I've not taken my Turbo R on there yet but will do some day. Nice Brooklands at 13:53 as well :)
