Well, this is perfect timing. Started working on a similar fish knife last night. I don’t think I will go as far as pinning but, if the scales come off like yours did, I’ll definitely be using your process to replace the covers. Thanks, Tom.

It is great timing, PEDC! I saw your video last night, and thought, "oh yeah!" If it's available in your area, I would suggest you get Evapo-Rust. It does an excellent job of removing rust. I'd like to send you some channel stickers. Can you send me an email?

Excellent video Tom! I never knew there were so many pieces to a fish knife! 😳🤣 Too bad about the pins. But hey, it’s still looking fantastic. You are saving another sad little knife. Good for you! 👍 And that sure is a beautiful spot in the middle of the video. Peaceful and serene! Cheers, Dubya

I use a felt wheel on my dremel on medium speed with the wax that you use on a leather strop it will take those marks out and mirror shine in the blade as long as they aren't really deep scratches. Ive done this many times on old knives it works. 😊 good job so far Tom 👍🏻 Just make sure that you change the wheels once they get really black and keep adding the strop wax

This blade has some pretty deep scratches. Thanks for your tips, I really appreciate them. There's always something new to try!

Great video. Nice job. This was a nice old design. When I was a kid they were so popular you could go into any hardware store and buy one. I had at least 3 of them and cannot rememeber what happened to any of them. You could really nuse a small belt sander and buffer to reduce the hand sanding time. Many different grits are avaible to be more or less aggressive and all of it is fairly inexpensive on Amazon. Thin colored plastic from packaging or toys could also be used as the knife scales.

Very cool! I am enjoying this. You got that looking pretty good Tom. Well done my friend. Oh hey have you ever tried using pipe cleaners(ones used for pipes not the craft pipe cleaners) to help get down into those very narrow channels on knives to help clean them out? You can get them in both plain and with bristles in the pipe cleaner. I used one on my mini toothpick and it worked great. Just an idea
@knifedelights74734 ай бұрын
Thanks for the idea, Jeff! I'll try to pick up some pipe cleaners. I appreciate you dropping by, my friend.
