Of course, nobody should be using human hair dye on their dogs. That's actually cruel. But I know a lot of people die their service dogs different colors like on their paws or tails and it's so that they're more noticeable and that people don't like step on them or anything!

I'd disagree, I as a groomer ONLY use pet safe... My dogs client and personal LOVE being dyed they get scritches and attention.. and It's not uncommon for them to go to my dye cabinet and paw at it begging. I think it all comes down to a pet OWNER vs a pet parent. Now I can't stand people that treat pets like their kids ..m.thats not my point. My point is can you READ your pet? Eyes ears sounds stance... They all tell a story about stress etc.
@existing032 жыл бұрын
I kind of disagree and agree at the same time, always use dog safe dye but always check the dog's allergies, also check the if the groomer uses the proper dyes, and if its applied properly, I probably isnt someone who would dye my dog, though I think anybody should if they do it right

My small, 10+ year old dog has signs of beginning-to-mid tracheal collapse. He was rehomed to me last year, from a family with large dogs and small children, where he'd lived since puppyhood. Their house is super active, the animals are physical with one another, and there are lots of unsupervised interactions between little guy and the big dogs, as well as the small children. I want to dye the area that covers where his trachea is, so that when he visits them, the humans have an awareness, as well as a consistent reminder, of where he shouldn't be touched. I'm looking for a natural hair dye I can make in my kitchen.

I disagree... a colored dog... cool and funky, like you say... makes you smile and happy. People that see it, smile and are happy, and they usually want to stop and chat and pet the dog. You have just made the dogs life a little happier. We humans don't understand how bored dogs are. We are at work, doing chores, picking up kids, taking them to sports, when we finally get a moment to sit down, out comes the phone, you tube, Netflix, Facebook, Instagram etc. The dog is laying on the carpet, has had no intellectual stimulation, all day, all week etc. If there is anything that can give a little time to your dog, KUDOS to you! and a dog can see a smile from a mile, so a cool funky colored dog makes me smile, and makes my dog smile. NEVER USE HUMAN HAIR DYE... NEVER. Only use PROFESSIONAL SAFE PET DYE, FOOD COLOR, OR Beet juice, raspberries. and let your local groomer do it, when getting groomed. Just a little balance to your no DYE advice. 🙂🙂🙂

People are turning it into a trend, they are treating live animals like accessories. They don't have any good reason to make their dog sit there and get dyed, it's not fun for the dog and they would rather be left with their beautiful natural coat.
@Milo_DeVenus2 жыл бұрын
I totally agree with you that people are using their dogs as accessories and that is a real problem. But I do dye my dog's tail and legs with dog friendly dyes and I do it because he is my service dog and having the tail and paws coloured make them more visible to people in crowds and therefore less likely to be stepped on. Also service dogs have a higher tendency to be stolen. Having a colourful tail makes it much easier to describe and prove the dog to be yours. Having that said I would never ever dye his face or use human grade dyes.

@@Milo_DeVenus Im a little confused. because what if the thieves dye it back or another color? won't that make it even harder to retrieve it because you're searching for a different colored dog now?

@@Nuuu007 I suppose anything is possible but we do what we can to help keep our animals safe. I have a Golden so it would be near impossible at that point to dye her tail back to blonde. However, I think it would look suspicious if I said I have a Golden with a rainbow tail and the "theif" has a Golden with a dyed tail of any colour attempting to cover it up. Mostly I was just trying to say that there are viable reasons why someone would dye their dog. Thanks for the question. 🙂

Summary: Human hair dye will burn your dog, possibly kill them, and probably make them go blind. Also, we only dye the hair on our head, and the fumes etc. are terrible for us, even just dying that small area. Think about how awful it is for them to dye all the hair over their entire body. Also, why would you bother? It's not fun for them. It's emotionally and mentally damaging, separately from the physical. They love us as we are; can't we do the same for them? It's more kind not to dye your dog's hair, but if you must, there are natural options, like food coloring or beet juice, and some dog hair dyes or dog hair chalks can be bought.

As someone who dyed there hair literally last night the dye I buy isn't box dye because that's the dye that burns. When she said the dye burns the dog well yeah if you get a human hair dye that has ammonia and all the other stuff that's terrible for your hair let alone you dog. But my hair dye soothes the burning feeling from the bleach. The bleach hurts and you should never bleach your dog.
