A common question for teachers is how to handle disruptive autistic behaviour in the classroom. "Can I eat the box?" In her show Douglas Hannah Gadsby tells the story of how her high functioning autism resulted in hilarious (yet challenging) questions that her teacher could not handle. This video deconstructs Hannah's story and unpacks the lessons we can learn from it.

I have Asperger's and when I was young and my teacher told the class: "Colour the bear"I thought: "we are 6 years old, why would she want us to do such a menial task, there must be a trick" I colour the nose and the outline and hand it in saying "it is a polar bear" needless to say I was told with reproach that I was a sly young lady and that luckily no one else had come up with this idea. Damn old woman I didn't subvert the regime, I just did it my way.

I have high functioning autism and have an unhealthy obsession with surf punk, Indie Music, KZbin, and Tumblr. I came to a conclusion that my obsessions are unhealthy, because yesterday I started going to a ceramics class, and all I talked about was KZbin personalities, me being a Tumblr author, and listening to Ty Segall on Pandora while painting with acrylics in my backyard. I loved cleaning up greenware and I really enjoyed the class, except for the country music the instructor put on. I was glad when I went to the car because I got to play some Together Pangea on my phone
