The reason why your 2nd draft was displayed as an 89 attack (despite having 99 Becks as your only ST): the att / mid / def rating on that final screen is taken from the BASE version of the cards in your draft. So Cole parmer’s silver card, rivaldo’s base icon etc. Hence, imo ignore the art/mid/def ratings on that final screen - they mean nothing

In terms of the rating i think it is based on base cards, look at your midfield rating in that example draft you used (with 99 becks up top) your midfield rating is 73?! Look at palmers base, for example (66) also think it includes bench but not reserves, same thing with that Minda guy, sure his base rating is low, just a thought love the vids love the drafts

Begs the question. Is taking icons and heroes better because there base rating is higher on average? Some card types however are there "own" card and not classed as a upgrade on the base. (Think different promo cards) so maybe it's worth targeting specific card types as opposed to average rating

@@Danieleinad3 I don’t think so. The end screen with the avg ratings per mid/def/atk I think is just for show. The actual avg is based on the face card stat. ie a 98 cold palmer is gonna bring up the avg rating but the end screen midfield rating will be lower(66 base). Or if there’s a 93 Cruyff, his actual avg will be the 93 and so will the end screen avg bc its his base card

So to follow up on my previous comment using the second draft let's say 99 Beckham was the only attacker the averages work out to 99 attack and a 94.6 midfield with the draft working out at a 95.5 rated however if you include the cams into the attack, the attack then averages to 96.3 and midfield 94.3 with the draft averaging out to 94.7, so by having the same exact rated players it goes from a 94.7 to a 95.5 just by having beckham as the only attacker. hope this helps

Hey Nep, something I noticed with Riise and Beckham it takes there primary position into consideration. Even tho u started Beckham as a ST the result showed Daiglish as ur Top Forward. I believe it goes based on primary position and not where u place them in the team. 12:04

The rating is total for players in the whole squad so for draft 2 you have an 89 rating for forwards and you have 5 face card forwards @ 78,81,94,96,98=89.4 beckham playing in ST means nothing as his face card position in CM.

For the end screen yeah but total draft rating is different as moving a player into the starting XI can change rating, therefore the whole squad isn’t taken into account.

With a lot of research online and testing, this is exactly how the draft calculates rating, it is proven and based on what EA have said before: You add the ratings of every player in the starting 11 + Bench together. In the second draft the number is 1,701. Then you divide it by 18 (Bench + Starting 11) which comes to 94.5. Now all the players that are above that rating you calculate how much higher they are and add that together, which comes to 20. Ignoring all the players that are below 94.5. (99-94.5=4.5 for beckham and so on) Then you add that number to the original total rating of 1,701, getting 1,721. Divide that by 18, you will end up with 95.6 and you round down. Edit : With more checking, you ignore any player above 94.5 that is on the bench when you do that step, only starting 11 matters from that point. That is why it is a 95 rated squad. Hope this helps.

The average ratings showed that the reserves also come into count, so maybe you could try paying attention to the low rated players. If you for example have a strong defense but weak attack, take the defenders in the dead picks and other way round. Love the content and the engagement around this new method!

i would like to see you try take a 1 st formation, but only take one player who can play st which is hopefully high rated and don’t take any other players who are strikers after that to see if impacts the attacking rating once you’ve built the draft

The rating is based on the players base position not their alternates - so if you’re trying to improve a position like attackers - you’d need ST and CF cards

In the 1 striker formation. Try to get a high rated striker and switch it with a low rated mid or defender for the starting 11 and se if the rating drops.

Nep, perhaps the way it calculates the average rating is by taking the base gold or icon card rating of the cards instead of the special version? I've noticed even though I've no card in my team below 90 rated the game still averages my average ratings lower than what I think it should be with the player ratings ive got in the team

I think the way picks(player picks and drafts) in this game work is like an “expanded” rng where everything in a pick is grouped into like multiple levels 1 through 5 for example… 1 level would grant you bad picks 2 will be mostly bad with 1 good 3 will be some good some bad, mid tier cards 4 would be mostly good 5 would be great I think so because mostly you will see good cards together and bad cards together

It takes into consideration all attackers. Yes you had 99 Beckham but you also had an 81 Wilson (LW) and a 78 Womens premier league striker.

I think that the rating of attackers came in as 89 in the draft you hat beckham at ST cause you dont get beckham as a ST in the draft you get him as a CM so he counts as a midfielder so if you think that way your whole theory needs to be reworked

It averages out your bench players and their positions. Also it probably averages out their position in which they'd pop out of packs vs where you have them. I've never tried but taking the highest rated players and just dropping them into random positions probably doesn't skew the average of that group of positions. At the same time though the midfield was super low rated on that one although when averaged out all the Midfielders (Cams/LM/RM/CM) comes out to 93.6 so they have to taking into consideration something else.

If you have a 1 striker formation, and have a 99/98 rated striker, and also a 76 rated striker, put the 76 on the bench, and switch them around. If the theory about the averaging of the rating for the 4 groups is correct, then it could possibly even go up 2 ratings with 1 swap? Then you know for sure.

I think it's fair to say those ratings that pop up after you finish the draft are a visual glitch or a bug caused by an outdated code or something. You can not have a 95 team rating with 73 rated midfield, it's just impossible.

Assuming the new formula is right, would it then be possible to manipulate the overall rating by moving around your best/worst rated players ignoring chem to test it? I.e. if all your players are 99 rated, having 2 players 98 on the bench shouldn’t affect the average bench rating, nor one in a defence block or in the midfield block assuming the average is still be 99. However having 2 98 rated strikers would immediately bring the average down. Worth changing round the players to check the averages to test?

Hey Nep! First off love the drafting, good daily viewing. One thing to note with the squad summary at the end of each draft is I think EA use the 'base' player rating for their calculations. That would explain why the midfield in the 4-5-1 attack draft was so low, as Palmer was silver rated at the start of the game. Just a theory there but that probably means don't pay too much attention to the end summary I guess? Would be interested to see if anyone thinks similar

I feel that it count all primary positions to the category meaning like frimpong even if you put him in midfield it count to the defense category since it primary position is right back so if you add all the cards that primary position is defenders and then you divide by the amount you have it should give you the rating that shows at the draft summary at the end🤷🏻‍♂️

What you said about potentially taking a lower rated card for a different position is wrong i think because if you took a 98 attacker that could increase the average attack rating by 1 maybe 2 whereas if you took the midfielder you still might get the 1-2 average rating boost for the midfield but you then cant upgrade the attack easily or the midfield E.g. you have a 95 95 and 97 attackers And 90 94 and 95 midfield Then you get a pick for a 98 attacker or a 94 midfielder you should take the 98 attacker because both players would only increase the midfiled /attack by 1 average rating but then with the 98 attacker you still only have a 90 midfielder so then you have more room for improvement there

The attack midfielder and defence rating takes into account the players' base rating. Beckham's base card is a 88 for example, Palmer and Sarmiento base cards are terrible meaning you got 73 midfielder rating

When you move a player from reserve to the squad and the rating is changing, put that player in other position to a similar rating player to see if the attack midfield and deffenders average rating really works

With the new calculations for draft. Do you know if a players rating is based of their base- position or the position they play in the draft? Valueable thing to know atleast, Because you might have 3 attacking spots in the formation But both your wingers base-position is LM/RM (Midfielders) therefore your attack might only be based by your striker.

the 4-5-1 formation uses the CAMs in the attacker section. If you were to consider them midfielders it would have counted as a 96 rated draft

14:42 this whole average talk is so stupid. The rating is arbitrary. At this time stamp the def avg is 91.4 the midfield is 94 the attack is 79 and the bench is 81.33. (81.33 + 91.4 + 94 + 79) / 4 = 86.43. So this average theory means the draft should be 86-87 but it says 91… so it’s just wrong. Unless you claim weighted average. Ok let’s bust that myth. The starting 11 has an average of 88.1 and the bench 81.3 So your system of equations would be 88.1x + 81.3 y = 91 x+y=1 To find the respective weight for the bench and starting 11. X = starting 11 weight Y = bench weight… Solve the equation what do you get? No solution. It doesn’t exist it’s not possible. It’s mathematically proven false. It’s all made up by some arbitrary formula determined by EA. Just draft and stop trying to be philosophical.

On the second draft if you just took the average of your starting eleven it was 95,27. The average of your bench was 93.29. And the average of your 17 players so bench and starting 11 was 94,5. I guess the bench has a lil less impact but perhaps theres no averages for positions , just the total

I think the review of the draft is about every olayer from the positions. That's why Beckham wasn't counted as an attacker but as a midfielder, since that's where his original position is. But your midfielder review was really bad cause on your reserve you had LOADS of low rated midfielders, which overweighted Beckham 99 rating
