Welcome to the fourth day of historic facts for Laith! This time a little late bit late. Oda Nobunaga: Introduction: Oda Nobunaga was a Japanese daimyo and one of the leading figures of the Sengoku period (also known as Sengoku Jidai or Warring States period). He is regarded as the first of three "Great Unifiers" of Japan. He was head of the very powerful Oda clan, and launched a war against other daimyo to unify Japan in the 1560s. Nobunaga emerged as the most powerful daimyo, overthrowing the ruling shogun Ashikaga Yoshiaki and dissolving the Ashikaga Shogunate in 1573. He also conquered most of Honshu by 1580, and defeated the Ikkō-ikki rebels (autonomous or rebellious groups of peasants, merchants or clergy who opposed the rule of governors or daimyo) in the 1580s. Nobunaga's rule was noted for innovative military tactics, fostering of free trade, reforms of Japan's civil government, but also for the brutal suppression of those who refused to cooperate or yield to his demands. After his death from Akechi Mitsuhide and forcing him to commit seppuku, Nobunaga was succeeded by Toyotomi Hideyoshi, who along with Tokugawa Ieyasu completed his war of unification shortly afterwards. Toyotomi later united Japan in 1591, and invaded Korea a year later. However, he died in 1598, and Tokugawa Ieyasu took power after the Battle of Sekigahara in 1600, becoming shogun in 1603, and ending the Sengoku period. Interesting facts: - was fond of firearms (tanegashima guns) - Nobunagas brother Oda Nobuhiro was under siege and couldn't be relieved until he gave a hostage, later known as Tokugawa Ieyasu to the Honshoji Temple. - At his fathers funeral he dressed inappropriate and threw incense at the altar which was unacceptable for his family because he just kicked their traditions into the dust. - He supported Christianity, invited missionaries from the Portuguese and in return got access to firearms and cannons, this of course enraged the Buddhists and led to the massacre at the Hiei-Temple in 1571. Afterwards he gave himself the name "Destroyer of Buddhism" and got the nickname "The Demon King of the Sixth Heaven" Tomorrow: Yi-Sun-Shin Hope you liked it :)

Well done. Another backbone of his army were Yari Ashigaru (peasant spearmen) and quickly erecting make shift palisades to protect his arquebusiers. Hiei is the mountain on which the temple Enryaku-ji is located. He is also famous for burning down the Ikkō-ikki complex at Nagashima. He also crippled the Takeda at Mikatagahara after having lost to them earlier but the Takeda weren't able to utilize their advantage because trouble at home in the form of the Uesugi was brewing again. It can be said that two of the large advantages Oda had compared to other Daimyou was both his stout alliance with the Tokugawa clan and his relative close proximity to the capital in Kyouto. BTW one of the reason Toyotomi's family couldn't hold the reigns was that he was a commoner and the other daimyou of noble decent didn't like that at all. The other is probably that the Imjin War wen't poorly so there were quite a few resentments. It is day 116 since I asked you to do the challenge with Croatia in VIC 3 but in one of the videos, a good person named Andraip (Thanks for all the help) said it has a few flaws so it's time to correct them. So when you start playing as Croatia you have 15 years to get your independence, after that you cannot ally, get in a defensive pact, and you cannot be under any kind of protection and you must rival these powers as soon as possible: Austria, Russia, Serbia, Montenegro, Ottomans, and all nations from the Italian boot. You also must embargo all those nations and cannot enter their custom union nor can they enter yours. You cannot be in an alliance with any of the top 10 nations, including a defensive pact custom union, or protectorate, but you can trade with them. AI must be put on the default settings in case it isn't. If you ally let's say Portugal, and later on they get into the top 10, you must break the alliance. You also must stay monarchy all the time. Form the Danubian state with Croatia following these rules. (FYI incase I didn't make it more specific, you cannot join anybody's custom union you must always at all times have your own market)
