Wow, you sure are a well knifesmithing guy, you sure make your Bossmann proud to be his employed!!! How many takes did you need, to get the timer going, right when you wanted to say something? Does it affect the edgeretention of the knive in anyway?
@MartinHuber_Knives Жыл бұрын
Bossmann very happy when worky a loty very fasty! Yes the edgeretention of the knife is always in parallel perspective of timers and videotakes. Videotakes makes the knife softer so you have to make it faster with less takes so it works!

@@MartinHuber_Knives your videos are good. Your will gain subscribers quickly. I’ve been doing it for about a year or so. I don’t have the time to make a bunch of videos so my hours watched stay low. I gave you a shout out for the idea on mine. Not that I’m a big channel or anything. Lol

GREAT STUFF! I've seen a lot of 1 day builds, and they're all full tang, which anyone can do in a few hours (not counting heat treat). Takes me longer than 2 hours just to shape and fit my guards and spacers haha.

i could have done a Fulltang - would have been easier. but i wanted the challenge 😄😄

@MartinHuber_Knives but I'm seriously impressed how far you got. Most challenges I've seen exclude the heat treatment as it takes too much time. 2 hours for everything is insane. Or... hear me out, you can now make 4 knives a day during office hours and sell them at Chinese mass production prices 🤣

Respect, that was awesome. I actually hate these 2 or 5 hour build videos as i think in someway it devalues the craft and countless hours knifemakers put in.... i wish more would just admit that knocking out a knife in a couple of hours just isn't what goes on/even possible. But this is the first one I've seen that acknowledged that a modern oven temper wasn't possible. Fun for a challenge and getting views i guess. How long to forge weld the steel before you started? Anyway, you've earnt a sub from me. Really cool looking knife.
@MartinHuber_Knives Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for your comment. I totaly agree with you. Sure i could have said "I made it, who will know that it wasnt only 2 hours" But reality is, that with propper HT and work you cant. It was a fun spontanious challenge, that i am happy i did and showed me how much i could really do. Forgewelding up this billet includeing material prep took me about 45-60minutes Thanks for the sub, appreciate it!

🤘🤘🤘 Legeeeend!!! And btw, doing your best is good enough 🦾🦾….but yours is amazing. And i got a project idea for you….can you use the steel from an old puch bike ( free choice…bicycle or motorcycle) and make a knife out of it? Or am i pushing the limits here?

Nice but no mechanical fixing n the handle just glue ? subscribed (( until the first time i hear you call pattern welded steel DAMASCUS !!!!!!!! ))) (( ps taught knife making for two years after qualifying in Hereford))
@MartinHuber_Knives Жыл бұрын
The Epoxy we use is strong enough to keep everything in place where it should be :) On kitchenknives we dont do anything more, on hunting knives or similar i normaly like to either do a through tang with a screw or a pined handle...but...in 2 hours i just couldnt do that :'D Sorry to dissapoint you in the Damascus theme, this will be very soon - but to calm you down i know its pattern welded steel, but the Name "Damascus Steel" just has become the classic word for this kind steelwork :D Pretty nice job man! I am a trained Blacksmith since over 12 years now, started knifemaking pretty much the same time and doing this fulltime now since 7 years :)
