Thanks for this explanation, although 2 years ago I actually had a US Immigration officer at the airport upon returning from seeing my foreign spouse gave me advice to apply tourist visa during the long wait of spousal visa processing. Totally wasted my money and our time trying to do that.

After all, that's its purpose. I've heard k3 approvel takes many months as well so I'm not sure if it's worth it

What if originally you have that nonimmigrant intent when you come to the US,just to visit your girl friend. However, your US citizen girlfriend decided that you stay and the get married. You then marry her four months after the entry into the US. Will the USCIS presumes you have that immigrant intent that will probably deny your application for I-130 and I-485?

Then, ask that question to an attorney after coming here. If you are asking that question now, indicate that you are already weighing your options. Answer to your initial question prior to coming could influence your decision.

I have question if u come on F1 visa as student athlete but u got married to us citizen but have the money to apply for green card at the moment. and u have to travel back to home to train because u are national athlete representing ur country. Can I go back home without applying for adjustment of status and apply for it when I am home when I got money without having any problems with USCIS??
