@aurorethebore Жыл бұрын
But using your experiences as a kid to inform your parenting does make you a good parent. He’s not saying yes just to say yes. He knows from his own dumb actions that kids will experiment with style in ways that can be dangerous so it’s better to do it with the knowledge and supervision of an adult. I’m sure if he wasn’t tatted up, it would be a different answer, but he’s going off his experiences and basing it off his values, so it makes sense.

I don’t get how this is “good parenting”. You’re literally using “I didn’t respect my parents” as justification for your child to get whatever they want. If you actually wanted an effective way of going about saying yes, you should say “I don’t want you to, but I understand you’re getting older and I want to respect the fact that you can make your own decisions. If that’s something you really want then go ahead.” Honestly, of all the mainstream piercings this one would be the only one to get a no from me. I would ask why but girls don’t just get belly piercings for no reason. Same with pretty much any piercing. They want people to see it “as part of expression”. If others can see the belly piercing other than at a pool or something, your child isn’t dressed appropriately. That’s a piercing that my daughters can get when they’re adults. While I’m not so naive that they will be perfect and accept my wishes all the time, my daughters are raised to understand the value of reasonable modesty.

Ah....your channel makes sense now. You had parents that tried to guide you. In turn you made your own decisions and got smashed (perhaps in an abusive manner?). So now you compensate in relation to your own kids by letting them run your house. Oh, how the pendulum swings.... You do realize that overbearing parenting doesn't require an absolute response in permissive parenting, right? Structure, discipline, and empathy should be a standard trait bestowed by parents upon their children. Your no consequence parenting style will simply result in your 30-something year old children relying on you for everything while they blame the world for their failures, and by extension your failures
