There are still so many movies I'd want you to watch that haven't (yet?) hit the reactor zeitgeist in a big way: Walk Hard Lucky Number Slevin Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang Men Who Stare At Goats foremost among them. "Mr Right", "Stretch", and "7 Days in Hell" are excellent, underappreciated movies, but I don't hold out much hope that they'll ever be properly appreciated.

Not to mention the fact that the 60s show made Batman a household name and saved the comics from being cancelled and falling into obscurity. @@raymondgilbert1341 The thought had occurred to me that it could be the result of editing, but it happens in other scenes, too, like the night vision scene. Maybe that was also edited down and/or reordered, I don't know. Whatever the reason, the end result is that she often appears to be artificially short on ammo. And of course she was "nerfed" at the end to let Kick-Ass be the hero. I totally buy D'Amico beating her in hand-to-hand combat while unarmed or barely armed, since he had some fighting skills and was much bigger and stronger, but she could have gone for his gun instead of throwing it aside, for example. And earlier, she never used her stun grenades when they could have come in handy, possibly. Carrying a few fragmentation grenades would really have come in handy when she was cornered in the kitchen, as well.

Glad you enjoyed this classic Jen. If you are interested in watching Kick-ass 2, it's worth mentioning that it has a different director, who kind of tries to emulate Vaughn's style, but doesn't really hit the mark. The new director also goes for a much more faithful adaption of the Kick-ass 2 comic (faithful to a fault seems to be the general opinion), whereas Matthew Vaughn's Kick-ass, and the source comic diverge pretty heavily- to the point that one could argue that the core message at the heart of comic book, and the philosophy of the film adaptation end up in opposition of one another. I know some fans weren't happy about the changes, but I personally feel that they ultimately made for a more satisfying film overall. I've tried to give Kick-ass 2 several chances, but everytime, I'm let down unfortunately

you already got to see what the original comic looks like -- the big daddy / hit-girl origin sequence was drawn in the original style by the original artist john romita jr

I listened to the soundtrack album for this movie so much

Chloe Grace Moretz was 12 when they were filming the movie, and 13 when it released (the character is 11 at the start of the comics this is based on), and IIRC her mother in particular wasn't very happy that she was running around saying "cunt" on screen at 12 lol. And yes, 'that guy' was in the X-Men movies as Quicksilver. Kick-Ass played Quicksilver in the MCU.

Really good movie, and it holds up so well even today, after watching so many superhero movies. The sequel isn't as good, but I still enjoyed watching it.

The scene where big daddy is burning always gets me.. i never understand why most laugh when he's screaming, it brings a tear to my eye to hear the hero and loving father figure of the movie in such immense pain. i for one always took that scene seriously, i mean he's burning alive.. it's not meant to be an honorable and theatric death to witness. instead, very grounding and gruesome.. which is in theme with the tone of the entire movie. point being, those screams were very realistic and fitting imo.

Hi Jen, so great of you to continue these premieres despite being away from home. You're the best, Jen! [Ian tells me you've actually just got home, but you're still the best!]

The one thing I wish they had added to the movie from the comic, when hit-girl and kick-ass go to the penthouse, hit-girl pulls out a vial her dad gave her of 'superhero formula'. It's cocaine, and hit-girl proceeds to kill everyone while coked out of her mind.

Not Batman but Nick Cage did play Ghost Rider.

Nic Cage was actually supposed to play _Superman_ and Kevin Smith was supposed to write the script for a while. If you ever watch Kevin Smith talking about that experience please make sure you've watched "Wild Wild West" with Will Smith first, another film produced by the same producer. And Hit Girl's rampage through the hallway? Oh GOD that was amazing in the theater. We were laughing in _shock_ at how _awesome_ it was. That's like, you know, the daughter of John Wick and XENA there.

One thing's for sure, Matthew Vaughn knows how to film action scenes, as further evidenced by the Kingsman films.

The actress who played Hit-Girl turns up in the first Equalizer film. Edna says "NO CAPES" darlings.
