Dont promote giving out a wifi password as being a "good citizen." NEVER give your password to someone you dont know, or someone you dont trust., there are numerous illegal things they could do on the network, and if the police catch on it would trace back to your house instead of them. There is absolutely no reason anyone would need your wifi password except for malicious intent. If they really need it they can go to the library or mcdonalds

Yes, and 99% of the time its a lot easier than you think. Always use WPA2 encryption with a relatively long (like 15-20) character password and you should be set.
