Given the problem of springsteel not hardening all the way through, why not replace it with silversteel? also protipp: diamond files are better for hardnesstesting, because they hold their edge longer

i could also use that steel for sure but i only had that steel at hand at the moment. I usually test my knives with a HRC Testmachine. This was just a quick test after the quench.

which oil do you use to harden?

there are special heattreating oils out there. Parx 50 i think it is called but don’t quote me on that

Ok, I have to ask what you mean when you say "spring steel" In Canada, I would likely assume 5160 steel, but I suspect it could be something else you're using
