I own all of their models and eagerly awaiting the new model 3. Every Sunday, I tune up my knives and it takes me less than 5 minutes. Easy and effective.

Hey :) mal wieder ein Mega Video! Ich versuche mich grad acid Stonewash. Hab auch dein Video dazu gesehen, nur leider wird mein Stahl (14C28N) nicht wirklich schwarz. Benutze auch das gleiche Eisen3chlorid. Hab es vorher mit aceton gereinigt. Aber wirklich dunkel wird es nicht, eher ein dunkleres grau.. Hast du einen Tipp woran das liegt oder was ich anderes machen könnte?

also 14C28N wird nie richtig schwarz bei mir. Durch den Stonewash wirkt es oft dunkler. Ich glaube es liegt am Chromoanteil der im Edelstahl ist. Kohlenstoffstahl wird tief schwarz

@@forgeworks3176 ja, da ist das natürlich kein Problem. Womit ich selber gute Erfahrungen gemacht habe ist mit Nigrit VA. Das ist ein schnell brünierungsmittel speziell für edelstähle. Damit kann man es nur leider nicht so gut steuern. Nach 2x30 Sekunden sind auch die meisten Edelstähle schwarz.

yes i explained that . It happened when i cut into the big contact wheel. I couldn’t grind it out but still wanted to finish this project. This is not a sales product

I've seen the "rock" texture on the knife tangs/handles from other makers before, I just can't think of an example right now. That being said, I like it! I also really like the "wood grain" carving and the knife overall. Nice job and thanks for sharing "Grind Works" :)

totally agree with you. This was more a fun project than anything serious. But you can bet i have planned something awesome this year which will have a distal taper

@forgeworks3176 you can get away with little to no distal taper if you have a good profile taper. A good distal taper is one of the most arcane and esoteric aspects of sword making. If you are able to make a jig so you can file or machine the distal taper it's a whole lot better than not having anything. Stock removal by hand and eye is time consuming and tedious. Look at the distal taper on high end swords like Albion or LK Chen.

Given the problem of springsteel not hardening all the way through, why not replace it with silversteel? also protipp: diamond files are better for hardnesstesting, because they hold their edge longer

i could also use that steel for sure but i only had that steel at hand at the moment. I usually test my knives with a HRC Testmachine. This was just a quick test after the quench.

there are special heattreating oils out there. Parx 50 i think it is called but don’t quote me on that
