If you unplugged the maf then it would drive normal if that is the fault. One way of testing it

I'm old enough to remember when Autotrader was in paper format that came out weekly! I think it was regional so the cars advertised were only seen in a fairly local area certainly not UK wide. Hard to imagine that was how a lot of cars used to be brought and sold.

There’s a bunch of Mercedes folk out there on the Mercedes forums that would be interested in a low mileage W203 once it’s fixed. They are a far superior drive to most regular new cars. Might be worth lobbing some info for free on those Merc forums and try and maximize profit.

Its amazing what Covid has done to the old car market, granted its a low miles , but its cat'd. Prior to covid straight facelift ones were cheap as buttons, now pre FL are fetching 3k.

Now if that had been diesel. You would be up against whole list of potential problems. Mafs,4g 5g boxs are known to misbehave,injector seals. Timing chains. Alternator pulleys failing. List goes on. Not worth having them big old german buses

Fuel pump maf or fuel regulator, failing that o2 senor in exhaust or even an airfilter
