I've never seen anyone use a jig or pattern to lay cement blocks before. Here in Canada, masons lay mortar freehand, laying a double row of 'mud' where the edges touch, tap the block or brick into place with the end of the trowel, and then use the trowel edge to clean up any excess mortar that squishes out and a special curved tool called a brick jointer to finish the face. Your method seems tidier, but freehand goes a fair bit quicker. Also, we would have to use a steel beam over any window or door openings to meet building code requirements. Very interesting to see how things are done differently in different places.

Mark made this for William so he gets an even coat on the cement it’s so much easier for him, I guess when you doing it all day it just comes naturally and that’s what you would do, 🥰

Tanya, I am sure it is never a dull moment around you. You have your mom's sense of humor, and I think the kids have it, too. William, you and your dad are doing an awesome job. It reminds me of our dad and my brother's. You are all very lucky to have each other. Keep bringing the videos.❤ We are going to the groomer with our dog tomorrow. She is a 5 year old boxer. She loves going for grooming. We call it her spa day. She starts whimpering before we get there. She can smell the air and knows where she is going. We call it her spa day! Have a great weekend. I love watching Mark teaching his son, and William learning from his Dad. They are a great team! Those building blocks are so heavy, they must be exhausted by the day’s end. I love watching masonary work. It goes up so quickly compared to other trades. Sorry to miss the live chat today- but we’re getting ready for our last little family jaunt of the summer, before school begins for the boys. Hello yes so William is a dry liner plasterer works full time, so evenings and weekends is all he gets time for, so I’m a dog groomer and look after peoples dogs 🐕 and I’m the one that wanted to create KZbin and show you the work on the house he’s renovating plus going about and showing you around our beautiful area 🥰
