I just took a roadtrip from Minnesota to Texas and back with the mini flat mounted to my Sprinter roof. It's fantastic! It works well in motion (except passing under bridges of course) and it draws way less power than my old gen 2 dishy. I highly recommend it to anyone who needs off grid internet from a vehicle. I've been getting about 150mb down and 15mb up on average (even though it's pointed straight up). Perfectly usable for working remote.

Love my Starlink mounted on the roof of my campervan. And yeah, it works inmotion too, which is great as I can keep streaming music anywhere. I mounted it on the roof because it (a) took up space in the van when it wasn't in use and (b) it was a pain to setup each time to use and (c) it's super secure on the roof whereas having it on the ground means someone could just steal it.

Nice to see that mount. super slick! Something that might help with that long cable, I cut mine so its the perfect length to where I typically deploy mine on my van, but also with the leftover I added ends to it so that I could still use it if I needed to put the dish in a more open area away from the van. That extra wire stays stowed away and used for only when I rarely need it, and I only have to manage a 20ish foot wire for my standard setup. 100% worth the time involved trying to crimp those new ends lol
@JevenDovey4 ай бұрын
Yeah for sure. I want to run my cable to my 2nd battery thats in my Alu Cab and put it on a switch. That way I can flip it on when I need it whether I'm driving or at camp and just keep the min mounted on my roof. Then get a 2nd cable for if I ever need to take it off and position it away from my jeep.
@sritellapur33512 ай бұрын
Thank you for the review. I am ordering one for my jeep. Quick question, you mounted this on a rack which is very sleep on your freedom panels.....which company is it from? Love the sleep design.
@RileyG444 ай бұрын
I used the quick connect mount from Savage UTV along with a couple of carriage bolts to mount my mini to the driver side rail on top of my AluCab. Works really well and allows me to detach the dish for things like freeway driving while leaving it mounted on the trail.
@eight2seven2 ай бұрын
Anything I've been mounting up there I've been running the cables down the back of the cab between the cab and bed. You can go right up under the passenger rear seat through the drain below the carpet.

Cool. I have an interesting solution I'm working on. A weather proof pass through so that I can not only remove it when I need to but also connect it to my 2nd battery and flip a switch to turn it on and off

I’d make an aluminum case using extruded rails. Keep the material covering it white to reduce heat. Maybe with quick clamps. I wouldn’t leave it exposed for long periods of time. Maybe get white car vinyl for the face to cover it from UV.

Fun fact: the Starlink mini dish even works from inside the Jeep if you mount it directly under the passanger-side Freedom panel. This is because the panel is made of fiberglass and does not degrade the signals very much. I often get >100Mbps this way.

When they originally launched the mini, it was $30/month but you HAD to have a previous Starlink account/service. They've since changed that, and the minimum plan is now $50/month (can pause or cancel anytime) and you no longer need a previous service. I just bought one to take with me in my trailer and boat.
