That is super clever using the tractor's hydraulics to steer the downed combine! Getting a double ended pipe hitch is a good investment. You never think about it until you need it. Collect the scrap metal for the hitch and set it by your welder so when welding another job you can just zip zip build the hitch.

I pulled our 9610 home with our 8400 after we had an engine fire. 7 miles, 2 hours. Made a drawbar and pulled it from the rear, ran steering lines to the remotes on the 8400. Very stressful pull, I think I hit 5 mph one time

To my knowledge you can't swap tracks onto a wheel machine, as a Lexion wheel machine frame is very different from the frame that tracks mount to

You are going to have to run the 8 row because the yield is going to be so heavy she won't handle 12 rows. I know about German wiring from CAT shovels. CAT ET would only talk to the engine ECMs but not the German operating system.

Love this project. Creative steering solution. I have a spare JD 4400 combine full of spare parts useable on my main 4400 waiting to be disassembled. Maybe someday.
