@@kenz2756 I think with classical training he means that Charles went through formal training, music theory, exercises, scales, rhythm classes and so on. You can easily see his very broad knowledge of music theory and wide variety of different techniques in all of his videos. All of that can of course be done on bass, so if this is his favorite instrument, that's just how it is. I mean, he obviously doesn't use the banjo techniques to play that fast here, he uses mainly tapping, which is his signature technique after all. For someone with his skills, this probably wasn't too hard. If he actually had to reproduce the same songs with the same technique on a bass, it probably would be just described as "Fast AF finger style" which is a purely technical skill and I am positive he could to that as well.
@machobunny12 жыл бұрын
I play banjo, and it's not really all that hard to sound very fast with it. It's tuned to a chord and many stings are never fingered to make the fast notes. But both hands have to be fingering and picking almost every single note on the bass. This fellow ... leaves me speechless. He's in a league completely by himself. Amazing skill... 9/10 on the North Georgia Accent. Born in Birmingham, Alabama, raised in Columbus, Georgia. If you wore overalls (only one strap buckled) and a straw hat, and were barefoot, the accent would have been 10/10 with bonus points (bonus points determined by how dirty your bare feet are) it's more than just manipulating your vocal cords, it's adopting a way of life that shan't be easily imitated. But, saying all that, 9 out of 10 for an Englishman is a perfect score without sticking your arm in a mudhole and noodling for extra credit. Amazing musicianship, your style and tone never cease to amaze. Cheerio!

I speak a few languages, so I'm idiomatically as well as accent-aware. It's hard to make suggestions about your Georgia accent because it's really close already. Remember when Kate Winslet was in Titanic with Leo D, and they were at the railing of the ship, and he said he could teach her a few things, and she adds, "And spee-it" (for "spit".) We don't quite use two syllables like she did and like you tend to do. Other than that minor thing. I can't fault your pronunciation. I'll give you this, YOURS is about a hundred times better than anyone in Hollywood I have seen in movies and TV shows. What we heard on the Dukes of Hazard (though it was a great show!) was not authentic. All good wishes.

@@bladenexx wow…just wow. Thanks dude, I’m fairly new to his channel and hadn’t been that far back in his videos. Well, I know I can say it now, he is the Eddie Van Halen of the bass guitar and the song he did for his grandfather had me in tears. But he might have to practice his “southern accent”

Me encanta el sonido que le das a ese bajo, esa interpretación tan pulcra y deliciosa. Un saludo y un fuerte abrazo.

They say a gentleman knows how to play banjo but doesn't.

I live in the Appalachian mountains and you said it properly, so I give you a 9/10. Even most Americans say "Appellation mountains". I would give a 10/10, just need to work on the twang

There were moments where the accent broke just a little, but pretty darn good. 8/10

I’ve heard every instrument that is out there. I’ve never heard someone make a bass sound like a banjo. I’m sending this to my brother. He plays a bass and my mother plays the bingo. Thank you.

Haha, I live in Georgia and your accent would rate 4/10 here. Bass playing 10/10.

When searching for the hardest banjo solo in the world you search for Bela Fleck.

As someone who spent childhood in south GA, then 10 years in north GA, then moved back to south GA after, I'd say your accent was about a 6/10. Really not bad. It really depends on the time period too. Some things only older folks still say. Like my dad would say "worsh rag" instead of "wash rag" lol. But I don't really hear people speak much like that anymore. As for your bass playing: Amazing as always. I love hearing you tap.

As a southerner, I'd give y'all's accent a good 4 outta 10.

Great playing! I had a thought. If you're interested in bluegrass playing in bass, why not get a bass banjo?

I just recently discovered this channel, and am loving it. I'd love to see you battle with the banjo player Greg Liszt. His album Four Finger Banjo is astonishing, and includes some classical pieces (Paganini's Moto Perpetuo and Bach's Partita No. 2 in D minor) along with some pretty funky bluegrass (including bluegrass 'cello). He's played in some really great progressive bands including Crooked Still and the Deadly Gentlemen (which is probably best described as a bluegrass/rap hybrid)

4:00, Hand movements on the bass or guitar look much more difficult than on the banjo. But it's still just as hard. :)

I give the accent a 6 as well. It's not strong enough. Remember: Americans have no subtlety, so when in doubt, do what you think is too much and over the top, and it'll be just right.

As someone who is a very amateurs bassist at best, it always brings a smile to my face seeing you shred on that bass bruh
