Hey Andrew, I'm a fan of yours and I've been enjoying your content since a long time now. I am a laptop guy just like you and you are doing a great work by making these videos. Not a lot of people here at KZbin make the content like yours. I am studying cybersecurity and in this field, the use of operating system "Linux" is used very often. So I wanted to suggest you to try using Linux in these old hardwares, as it can be better than older versions of windows and can perform modern tasks at a light form factor. Thanks for always making good content. Kudos.

The transformations that you make in the notebooks are beautiful, you are an expert in this; Invest in it to make money with customers you are very good at what you do and the paintings are getting top !!! A pity that in this video Acer did not install Windows 10 Pro on it, just put an SSD and increase the ram that would be top !!!

Really nice upgrade! Your videos have inspired me to look at my older laptops and upgrade them where required. Also, if you need a replacement hard drive for laptop with IDE connector, IDE hard drives are relatively low capacity and now starting to be quite expensive. You can get IDE to mSATA converter on eBay for about £10, then fit an mSATA SSD. I will probably do this whenever I need to fit a new disk into an old IDE connector.

Aaahhhh, when vga ports was standard and laptop designs stays the same for newer models until trends changes. I got a similar acer from 2006 that has intel core duo cpu with 1 gb ram and 80gb of hdd with ati gpu... forgot what ati it was... but the laptop has overheating issues and I didn't know anything about laptops and computers back then and youtube was pretty much still in it's infancy in my country... Seeing such an old beast being resurrected here is pretty awesome :D

I just wish that someday you'll upload a video in which you upgrade an already powerful enough pc to a beast pc .. u got the skill and the imagination to build and upgrade a full option gaming pc .. i wish u consider this idea
@elfedorausado4 жыл бұрын
Actually, install a light Linux distro, and you would have a very capable system for everyday tasks. You don't need updated specs to check social media, watch KZbin (maybe not in HD, though) and use offimatic suites. In developing or third world countries, such a machine would mean a way for some to bridge the digital divide, somewhat.
@waltergonzalezpaz59952 жыл бұрын
I think you should have used a Compton tape for the heatsink, it is not sensitive to high temperature, it is made to resist up to 400 °C. Have a nice day!
@NJ2554 жыл бұрын
Awesome transformation ❤️
@temetka4 жыл бұрын
I like this. The red and black look great together. I think the dragon should have been smaller, but that's just my opinion. What did rigger me was you painting over the Acer logo on the back of the lid and model # on the bezel. But the machine looks way better than when you started.
@ComputersAndTechAndAndrew4 жыл бұрын
Thank you bro :). actually I planned to make the logo smaller, but the plastic on this laptop is very thick and hard, not flexible. I afraid to not brake it because i don't have another case :D. But if i do this on the newer laptop, then that is a different story. The newer laptops have thinner and more flexible plastic, and cutting, modifying it will be much easier
@knightof19904 жыл бұрын
That skin mod would be very nice if it's applied to any ultrabook. Love the dragon.
@Motishay Жыл бұрын
21:06 you can fit an m.2 in there with an adapter. Even with IDE speeds it should be a night and day difference since an SSD will actually max out the IDE bus, unlike an HDD

There's a PATA (40 PIN IDE). In the Kingspec brand with cheap SSD nand flash drive. I think it's not very expensive. You can look for it at amazon or eBay, even in AliExpress. Thanks for the T7100 suggestion, I have a Celeron 900, single core 2.2GHz. I'll replace with that. Thanks!
@gugajedi4 жыл бұрын
It's awesome, although you should try to remove the bubbles on the carbon foil. You could use a adapter from IDE to Flash that could fit inside the hard drive space, so you could use a 32GB Flash card that would be faster than the IDE spinning disk and would improve the machine performance. Try to search for some IDE to Flash that could fit inside the drive space.
