Louis, you mention your tiredness, you are forgetting that your body is still recovering from surgery. It is a minimum of 6 weeks for surgery to fully heal.

For the tight corners on the bike - sounds obvious but make sure you are looking in the direction you want to go. May seem tempting to look at the handlebars to focus on the turn but your sight will guide the bike. This is how it's taught for motorcycle training in figure of 8's.

Louis, I think you like the chaos. I think you thrive on it. When I think about your bus trip from New York to Costa Rica, I remember total chaos. I also remember how you seemed to love it. This isn’t a criticism. I wish I was more like you.

It's incredible to see your perseverance through such challenging weather conditions. It's inspiring to see their resilience and ability to adapt to the changing circumstances. A true reminder of the importance of planning and preparation for outdoor adventures, especially in unpredictable weather.

Another great video. Worth securing your luggage cover a bit better so it doesn’t blow around so much. It will cause more drag (so you use more critical elec power) and it could pull you around more and blow you off course.

I must thank you for sharing this series of videos. You brought me back some (now) lovely memories. We did attept and eventually succeeded a 900 km trail, from Novara {Piedmont} all the way to Rome. Two riders on push bikes no power assistance. Soon after the COVID restrictions were lifted up. The month was July (incredible heat all the way). We could ride only 3 hours early mornings and 3 late afternoons. The journey lasted 21 days. We also had to cross a 2100 meters high mountain (Apennines). We were primarely using campsites for overnight stays but also several wildness tent pitches. We were carrying a load of 60 kg each. A mammoth task but, apart from food, we were carrying with us everything needed and (on reflection) probably more. Good luck and best wishes on your trek. God speed to you.

Enough sleep is essential for me to function. Without 8 hours I am just miserable. When I was a young mom, my husband could get by on very little sleep. He got up when our babies cried, changed them & brought them to me in bed for nursing. Some nights I barely woke up at all. Haha Then I took the day shift. He came home from work, ate & slept for 5 or so hours uninterrupted. I seriously don't know how single parents cope. Congratulations to ALL parents for making it work!!

When you have gone over rough roads, love your sound effects when you hit a bump. Also, I have a feeling that your little songs you sing are coming out of boredom on a long drive and probably tiredness. I find myself doing the same thing under those conditions. Haha! Nice job pushing through…. That’s not easy when you’re tired.

Louis the sleep thing is correct. I struggle with it too. I don’t have any trouble sleeping, just don’t make enough time for it. I enjoy having my own company so tend to go to bed too late. Definitely feel better after a long sleep though so it’s something I’m also trying to change. Have really enjoyed this series.

Last summer I was riding a 40 year old motorcycle across the USA from east to west, and there was one day where it absolutely poured rain all day long, I rode from 8 in the morning to 6 that night in a terrible downpour, no rain gear. I was absolutely soaked from head to toe and my bike was not running very well in the rain, something was getting wet that is not happy getting wet. So I can relate to the rain riding!

You can get waterproof motorcycle gloves with all the protection and dryness in the rain. There is also a line of waterproof bike gear mainly goes by the handle of Gor Tex. Then you don't have to worry about being wet.

Reducing wind drag on two wheeler, slip back as much comfortable to you and make effort to lower your torso and head towards the handle bar. Imaging how racer bikers are positioned on their bike. You can make your ride 40% efficient doing this. There will be little discomfort with balancing while moving hence move only as much it makes you comfortable. Every inch/cm you lower your torso, head down counts. I do notice you have lots of luggage on the rear seat so will be difficult to do so but when I ride my scooter I am almost on my rear passenger seat when going above 30 kmph. That is the reason I never have girlfriends, they occupy the rear seat and then you loose your transport efficiency.

I don't understand why you start your day so late ! 8am ?? Bro you could go to bed at 10h30pm like you said wake up at 5/530 and just be on the road by 6/630. You'll be able to make a lot more mileage...
@jonasmeier417
@jonasmeier417 2 ай бұрын
There are the following factors: Louis has to get sleep. For example 4 hours are not enough. The battery does only a limited amount of miles. Charging needs a lot of time. Actually the battery is supposed to be charged by solar power. This only works during the day and it must be sunny. Solar is not really working and it's not realistic, so that charging must be at usual charging points.

A thought on the sleep issue, often you talk about living almost a double life, a full day of fun and adventures with the family and then you settle down to work overnight. Perhaps a habit from your daily vlogging time. Maybe live only one day and make sure 12-6am is sleep. There is no need to work overnight when you post weekly. You are a working Dad and it’s normal for Dads to be at work during the day.

Louis, you are right about sleep. It is essential for good health and for heart health. You are still recovering from surgery and pushing your body very hard. Your diet is not great either. Having loose fabric flapping in the wind will destroy mileage. They even design most electric cars with retractable doorhandles and no rear view mirrors (pinhole cameras instead) to reduce air drag. All that flapping fabric is basically the equivalent of losing the energy equivalent of slapping your hands together several times a second. For a cyclist going downhill, you will gain more speed if you lay perfectly horizontal on top of the bicycle, than by staying in an upright position putting 300 watts of power into the pedals as human energy. "Cyclist goes Superman"
