@@amberdeady9176 I just bought a vintage Coach bag in great shape on Poshmark for under $30. A lot of resellers are marking down items for the holidays so they can clear out some inventory. If you compare prices on various platforms the cards might unfold for you. 😉

I went through the exact same thing with my vintage Gucci lunch box type bag. The inside was BLACK sticky, peeling, junk. It got on EVERYTHING!!! Then I just dunked it in the sink. I was so close to throwing it out. Now, I love the bag so much and it looks great! A real testament to the quality of the leather!

My first designer bag was from the bins. A vintage Bottega Veneta that I still have. I never bought a luxury bag new. Really enjoyed this video. My top-selling and favorite things to buy, sell, and collect are vintage leather bags. I had no idea that leather stain pens existed. I use Edge Kote and Agelus leather paints but didn't know about the pens. Going to get them soon, I think! I love this bag, especially with that green belt. Gorgeous.

I totally agree with washing it and getting it wet. Leather is very durable and surprisingly resiliant. I have thrown leather bags in the washer...also with the thought of can't make it worse. Good job on your dedication to fix this piece up.

Thanks for the inspiration. I remember my first designer bag was a Liz Claiborne crossover. My first job in High School back in the 80’s was at Macy’s . Hi Rachel, I have always wondered how people did designer bag rehab. Thank you for showing me your process! I’m super impressed with how it turned out. It definitely doesn’t look like the same bad at all! My first designer purse was a Vera Bradley that I bought in the early 90’s (not even sure if Vera is considered designer or luxe). Anyway, I bought one of her mini backpack purses because it was so beautiful with the African safari zebras and it’s perfect for the 80% travel schedule I was on. Its price shocked me, and I was lucky to get it on a 1/2 off sale due to the store’s downsizing. I loved it!

I think in the 80’s, they costed to my best recollection around $200…or was it $400? lol. Now it looks like they’re going for almost $2,000! What the heck? Anyways, I would love to have those revamped Louis Vuitton car vent things and will keep my fingers crossed! I’m a reseller and love watching your videos. I tried for 2 years to remove the smell. Nothing worked. I eventually put in 4 washing machine cycles with bleach. Well, it of course caused lots of damage, and still smelled. I used coconut oil & orange essential oil. It's helping. I'm still working on it.

I wish I still had all the bags I have donated, especially my Coach bags from the 80s & 90s. I purchased one from the 70s from a consignment store in 1997. Yep, donated that one too. 😢

My first was an orange-brown Dooney with a zipper that was so painful to reach in and out of the bag.

Omg! My first designer was the all weather leather Dooney green bag. I don't remember the name of it. I also had the drawstring bucket bag in Navy. I kick myself for getting rid of them 😩😩😩

I don't even know if Kate Spade is considered "Designer" but that's the best I have owned. I found a large Kate Spade bag and wallet at a garage sale for $8 It was beautiful, but too big for me personally. So I sold it on ebay and then bought myself my own first Kate Spade bag.

Would enamel paints such as Testers be a better option on the tarnished metal zipper pull? Less chance of paint peeling off than with the acrylic?

I have ac70s Gucci. The bag is in petfect shape on the outside but the lining is just disintegrating into flakes and dust. I woukd lovevto repair it, but I can't imagine how much this would cost.

What was the content or material for that lining?

I'm not sure. It reminded me of a duraleather faux leather coch I had once which also peeled and flaked but without the sticky. Like a microfiber backing on faux leather. Why did gucci cheap out like that?

I personally would have removed the lining and replaced it..yes designer bags may lose value, but the mess it made would have warranted the risk of selling it as a full restoration

I have never really had a real "designer" bag Until recently, yet it wasn't a purchase. It's a knock off evidently, but when I first saw it. It's got papers and everything, but because of the imperfection like this is gotta be a knock off. But the universe gave me a little itty bitty. Louis Vuitton and it is so cute. I love it but it's Quality of workmanship. It's not that of Louis Vuitton.. I mean, it looks OK from the distance, but if somebody closely examines it, they know it's not real, knew it once I really examined it. I'm going who in the world's gonna really donate their Louis Vuitton with it's papers, but maybe so, but it was a very expensive bag was over $9000. Because the paperwork and receipt was there, I was flabbergasted and I started to cry because my heart just ached for Whoever had purchased it going. Oh my God those poor people paid a lot of money for a purse that isn't even real.
