Fun fact: The Gear Cube was originally called the Danger Cube, because the gears were sharp, and Oskar van Deventer, the creator of the puzzle, kept cutting himself by getting his fingers pinched between the gears.

Way back when I first started cubing, I spent a few weeks trying to solve the 3x3 without any help. I got the 1st two layers down and I could move some things around on the last layer but I just couldn't get any farther and finally gave up and looked it up. I've always felt lame for having given up on the original 3x3 so now, my whole approach is to figure every new puzzle out without any help no matter what. It's so much more rewarding. Even if my original solution is trash and I end up looking up better ones online _after_ I solve it myself at least once 😛

Hi Dylan. I just wanted to tell you that I have watched your videos and tutorials since I started cubing (a bit less than 3 months ago) and I really enjoy them. I recently taught one of my friends 2-look OLL and 2-look PLL, and I used your way of explaining in your videos (as well as my own ways) to teach him, and he learned it in two days. He was impressed by how fast I could turn and solve the cube (even though I’m averaging around 25 seconds), and that’s why he wanted to learn some of those algorithms. Anyways, I like teaching people stuff I know since it makes me learn it better and we can have a good time together, and when I’m teaching people the Rubik’s cube your videos are extremely helpful, since I learned almost everything I can from you.

3:54 the pain in my soul when i saw you turn it, and turn the yellow to the red, when you could have turned the circle, turned the triangle for it, and then turned it back. augh

I never know which puzzles to get when I'm at the shop. Often they end up being way easier than they look and then I feel like Im just throwing money down the drain.

I'm actually going for the record for longest time solving a 3x3 Rubik's cube. I started in 2010 and haven't touched it since.

The hardest part isn't solving the cube, it's mixing it.

The ivy cube is really easy to solve l solved it by my own and u know after solving the cube again and again l watched some tutorial videos and it was like my own method. And l didn’t even know the name of the cube l just bought and try to solve it and it solved but surprisingly the tutorials were like my own method. But honestly u made it really hard to solve the ivy cube.

Just FYI, the Ivy Cube is just a pyra, which is why you can do the Sune-like alg like pyra that cycles 3 edges The gear cube can be solved by solving the corners and then using 2 algs i wont spoil if u want to figure it out
