I've almost reached the point you left the game at (I need to expand my drone production). This game feels easier than Factorio and Satisfactory because the devs gave us a number of quality-of-life improvements. Like you could've used a cargo elevator instead of those belts to lift the ore. You could also use a regular elevator to dig for you (and you also get a working elevator in the end!). After you unlock the cargo ships even the long-range transportation becomes easy. The game has a lot of useful automation under the hood and this is the first automation game where I managed to go this far. The only thing that is missing is making your own humanoid-looking robots that would build stuff. The easy way to do this is to add blueprint functionality akin to Satisfactory, but make it so the buildings wouldn't appear instantaneously and instead you'd get to watch another robot doing work for you. The hard way is of course to have robots intelligently build parts of your base using a number of standard designs (something like "create a plates production line using the ore from that iron node"). It's arguably a worse option, but it would still be a cool thing to watch.

One thing that I'd like to recommend: exploiting all 3 dimensions of movement While you're limited to 2d in Factorio, which heavily limits the amount of building space that's available to you, that's not a problem here. Simply build conveyors _under_ your construction if there's no room, then build back up when needed. Rather than having a single "circuit board," you can have a rack of them. It's the same principle as a skyscraper.
