Instead of fertile fields i just use 'Tilled Soil', - it does one thing, it gives you a flooring to use on soil which is 200% fertility tilled rich soil. 'Raise the roof' is great, - it's always good to have something to remove overhead mountain ... plus the skylights. Prepare carefully is a must for me. Indeed i use a good many of these mods.

ive been doing this with a fire station in the game, turned the garage into a garage/house and then had a bunch of stuff blocked off cause zombies broke out some huge windows before i got the fence up but ive since reopened the whole place and metal plated the windows, place is secure enough even living survivors cant get inside lol not exactly staying in the house only though i obviously venture out for supplies and am even building an outpost at the military checkpoint on the road to lexington.

random facts, since i was curious, apparently your big toe is super important, you can still walk and stuff without it but it apparently does 40% of the work of all the toes, as said you can still walk but possible balance problems and a change in how you walk, also your knee might end up getting shot since it has more force applied to it without the big toe.

you should watch a city planner play this game, there's a ton of improvements you could do to this, but it wouldn't be an AA video without some crazy challenge or ending lol blending your commercial and residential zones is something they do and say really happens, if you do like a block or two of commercial in residential district it will perform alot better, I've done whole functioning profitable cities using just a few tricks from them without using the regular industry zone at all, only using like farming and mining industry, and neither needed to be super close to the residential zones cause of how they explain roads, the only thing i would say to avoid if you do try this, is don't put in a college before you have ALOT of positive income, those things are money pits with a fire at the bottom.

even with max funding i often have alot of trouble keeping the cemeteries working effectively the only reason places like tokyo can get away with being "mostly" pedestrian is cause they have really great public transport, i have a feeling if you invest in a subway line or something for this then it would work.
