Important note: red dry erase ink is most prone to leave marks behind (followed by any other colors that use the same pigment such as brown, pink, orange, etc.). Also, you're probably onto something with the mix-in being the culprit. You may end up with a better result by doing another coat or 3 with an untainted can of whiteboard paint (which tends to be naturally pliable when it dries anyway).

We have dry erase walls at work (with no textile paint) and we have to work really hard (whiteboard care spread and quadruple washings) to get the walls clean.

I DID THIS TO A BEAN BAG! Seriously :D whiteboard paint is already pretty pliable so it worked for me :) but if you ding the paint (by putting a hole in the bean bag and therefore the layers of paint for example) then it starts to just peal off after a while. But it worked before that :D so maybe just add a layer of the whiteboard paint by itself? (disclaimer : I am not sure how pliable each brand of whiteboard paint is so do so at your own risk :p)

Works as well as most of our whiteboards, and better than my Amazon whiteboard page protectors… Tips on removing stubborn dry erase or permanent marker from dry erase boards: - try a different dry erase to “erase” it and remove both right away. - alcohol wipes! - hand sanitizer - sunscreen spray - rubbing alcohol - Magic Eraser

It honestly could just be the whiteboard paint itself. I did a wall in my room, waited a full week before writing (vacation), and it still did the ghosting thing. With that in mind, I think the couch was as successful as possible, even with the added mediums.

It probably wasn't the medium. As a long-time trainer I can tell you, dry erase doesn't come all the way off whiteboards either. Especially once they start getting an irregular surface... like the one you started out with... LOL

You could paint another coat with the dry erase paint without the textile medium. That might make it truly dry erase. And if that makes it crack you can do, yet, another coat with the dry erase paint with the textile medium.

I think marker boards have an additional "clear coat" layer on them in addition to the markerboard surface paint. That being said, I have seen diet mountain dew be able to remove some dry erase marker (and even permanent marker) from dry erase surfaces (mainly dry erase boards).

I remember at my college they decided it would be a good idea to throw out all the whiteboards, and paint a whole wall in each class room with this paint. They didn't do it right just ended up with walls full of half erased scribbles that they couldn't get rid of.

What about chalkboard paint? I've used it before and its pretty good. You can buy it in heaps of colours and then you can just draw with chalk! You might need to wash the chalk of with like a wet cloth and then dry it but it works!!
