Well that's given me flashbacks. :D Back when I had my Lexus IS200 (A "Sport", with factory fitted "Aero", and "Navigator" packs no less ! 😎 🤣) I wanted a cheap sacrificial splitter for the front bumper, but I couldn't find any sheets of thick black PVC for an acceptable price, so I bought a length of black 6" waste pipe. I split it, put it on a sheet of OSB and pointed a torpedo heater at it for 20 minutes to soften it right up. I then just unrolled it and let it cool. The beauty of using a tube was that I didn't need to split it in a straight line. I cut a large curve in it that almost went all the way round at the middle, so when unrolled it turned into a large flat arc (sort of banana shaped). Because the front bumper on that had a raised section in the middle I then put the sheet of PVC back on the OSB board with another piece of wood of the right width and height to create this bit, and torpedo heatered it again until it sagged to the right shape. Once shaped I screwed it to the underside of the bumper, trimmed it to follow 1.5" out from it's lower edge, and sanded it smooth. To finish it I just wrapped the top (and around the outer edge) with some glossy black car body wrap film I had stuffed on a shelf. It looked quite presentable, and fulfilled its purpose perfectly well (Which was to nudge high curbs when using "Nose in" on road parking before the paint on my bumper could).

Looks great 👍 it's cool seeing guys thinking outside of the box finding very affordable alternative ways to make automotive products, you'll have haters on this because they think you have to fall in line and spend hundreds if not thousands of dollars on these products, back in the 1980s I used to use vinyl house siding to form ground effects for cars and guys would where I got the custom parts because they loved them and after I told them they just laughed and walked away. Why? Because I didn't pay through the ass for something? Thanks for the video

You cut a short piece off of the end for the length. I would use that short scrap to shape the cut around the flare. Once you have it perfect on the short scrap, you can trace it onto your long piece. That way you're less likely to need to go by a new long piece because you boogered it up and made it too short.

@BarelyBuiltRight Жыл бұрын
I don't really see a way to drop the front at all without replacing the springs. The Belltech kit comes with a lot of shims that allow you to choose your drop up front, max of 3". You may be able to buy just the front end parts directly from them.
