Great video once again, Melissa! Thank you for your effort, the guide...the entire presentation is detailed and useful. Please can I ask you if aha, bha, pha, tretinoin can be used with peptides? I have used tretinoin for years.....also exfoliants for years. Have no irritation. Thanks a lot....I mean.....a lot!🤗
@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet2 жыл бұрын
From my understanding, certain peptides are sensitive to pH. Now, not sure how that really turns out when you apply a "normal" amount to the skin or if you do not use a mask that really brings the skin's pH down where it may clash with the peptides. There is no reliable information out there I could find. The concern with peptides and tretinoin is that both "connect/communicate" with the skin cells to "heal/repair" it, so technically, the skin could be overwhelmed and may not know what to do if the % being used is too high, or it may have a negative effect. But since nobody tested it, we do not know this, which is sadly the case for most of these "treatments" 😕

@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Жыл бұрын
Hey! :) What's your skin type? Since when are you using those products? I think that LRP Cicaplast Baume is causing this issue. Either use no moisturizer/baume because BOJ sunscreen and TO Retinol are already quite hydrating or use a lightweight moisturizer like LRP Cicaplast gel.
@tarunbhardwaj8740 Жыл бұрын
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet thank you so much for your response i have combination skin.. would you recommend adding anything else to my AM or PM routine? Like a toner or snail mucin etc
@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Жыл бұрын
@@tarunbhardwaj8740 Well, overall, the baume is very heavy and intended for dry and irritated skin. Therefore, using it in conjunction with the other treatments may potentially cause issues. I would recommend the following skincare routine: Morning: Cleanse your face with Cerave cleanser. Gently pat your skin dry. Apply Beauty of Josean sunscreen. Evening: Cleanse your face with Cerave cleanser. Gently pat your skin dry. Follow up with a hyaluronic acid serum. Apply Ordinal 0.5 retinol. By following this routine, you can address your skincare needs without introducing a heavy baume that may not be suitable for your skin type. Remember to assess your skin's response and adjust the frequency of product application as needed.

@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Жыл бұрын
These products are not primarily exfoliating acid toners; they contain small amounts of AHA and BHA, which are often used to adjust the pH of the formulation. Therefore, the low concentration of these acids should not pose an issue. You can incorporate them into your skincare routine alongside other products. The main function of these toners is to hydrate the skin. However, it's worth noting that excessive hydration can cause problems, particularly when using higher concentrations of retinol, as it can lead to faster penetration and increased absorption.

@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Жыл бұрын
Hmm, I recently had a similar case in my group, and the more I think about it, the Cosrx retinol cream 0.1 might be the issue here. I believe the formulation may not be suitable for certain individuals. Therefore, I would suggest stopping the use of it and changing the cleansers to gentler formulations. My advice would be to switch to CeraVe, Cetaphil, or The Ordinary cleansers; their new foaming cleanser is quite good. Essentially, I would recommend either Differin gel (as it is a gel) or something like Good Molecules Retinol 0.1% which also has a better formulation. Clean your face with CeraVe Foaming Cleanser, Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser, or The Ordinary Foaming Cleanser, then pat dry and apply retinol 0.1%. Follow this routine three times a week in the evening. On the other evenings, simply cleanse your face and, if needed, follow with the snail mucin: Clean your face Pat dry Apply snail mucin That's basically it. During the day, if you're exposed to the sun: Clean your face Pat dry Use sunscreen (ideally a mineral sunscreen like NIOD Survival 20 or 30, or any other that you may like. Honestly, I haven't tried many, but this one has never caused any issues.) So, essentially, I would also advise against using the Some By Mi toner and the snail cream. I believe they're just not necessary.

Well, it is in an oil formulation, so it tends to sit on the skin surface. There's not much you can do about it except for diluting it with a basic moisturizer, like The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA. However, it would be best to use a gel or lotion formulation for retinol.

@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Жыл бұрын
Retinol helps to renew the skin (so that the skin lets go of the dead skin cells much faster) while 'telling' the new skin cells that they need to become much healthier and stronger. So, in a sense, yes, it exfoliates the skin. Still, it's different. An exfoliant helps to let go of dead skin cells and, depending on the exfoliant you've chosen, either hydrate the skin or regulates the oil.
