It depends, what does it say on the label? Usually if low concentration, leave-on but best to follow what it says in the instructions :)

It’s not that simple, the addition of water may alter the composition. May i suggest soaking a cotton pad with water then using that to apply the salicylic acid, in that way you dont alter the formulation of the toner

Hello, Doctor. I'm 21 years old and have oily skin. I'm using an astringent and double-checked that it contains salicylic acid. Is it still necessary for me to purchase and utilize other bha exfoliant products, or is my astringent's presence of salicylic acid sufficient? Thank you!

Hello po doc pwede po ba mag tanong. Pwede po ba na ang cleanser ko ay La roche posay may salicylic acid po 2% pero po may sodium laureth sulfate. Ito po sana ang gagamitin ko na cleanser kasi po out of stock ang klenzit. Nireseta po kasi sakin via telemedicine hindi ko lang po na itanong sa derma . Pwede po kaya yon la roche posay medicated gel cleanser po . Tapos po yung iba pang nireseta sakin ay clindamycin s.o.s. , epiduo forte tsaka po mag doxycycline daw po ako 100mg. Ive only tried luxe organix, oxecure gentle cleanser with salicylic acid, pixi glycolic acid cleanser, mario badescu glycolic acid cleanser, loreal glycolic acid cleanser and peter thomas roth 3% glycolic acid cleanser. Ok naman sila lahat.

My derma recommended me a salicylic acid wash, glycolic toner, clindamycin and benzoyl peroxide cream , and to use it all at once at night , is that too much ? I started breaking out a lot more and my skin feels so dry after washing my face

Yes, if your skin can tolerate. I wouldnt recommend using them at the same time right away, especially if you have sensitive skin. U can start with tretinoin first, slowly then once your skin has adjusted, you may slowly add the low conc (1-2%) salicylic acid.

niacinamide and vit c are ok to combine and actually pwede naman retinol vit and AHAs they are not contraindicated kaso if used incorrectly can cause more harm than good.

Hello, Doc! I introduced a cleanser with low % of both AHA and BHA plus Niacinamide and Vitamin C in its ingredients. Added it on my routine slowly from once a week to MWF. But suddenly, I now have slightly itchy acne-like rash on my jawline where I don't usually get pimples. Can you help me determine if it's purging, breakout, or allergic reaction and should I discontinue using the product? Thanks doc in advance!

That’s also ok, to use AHA and retinoic acid, i give that too. Combining bha with retinoic acid might be too drying for your skin type that could be why she opted for AHA instead :)

Hi again po doc! Sana po mapansin. I think I'm normal/combi skintype. Bumili po ako Fairy skin premium brightening set. Baka masagot niyo po doc tanong ko, medyo mahapdi na kasi face ko huhu. Cleanser- has glycolic, lactic, and kojic acid etc. Toner- has tartaric, malic, retinyl palmitate, ascorbyl isostearate, retinol polysorbate etc. Serum- niacinamide, centella asiatica, salicylic acid, retinol polysorbate etc. Sunscreen- centella, licorice etc. Ask lang po doc, pwede po ba yan pagsabayin lahat day and night? I dont recommend anything to individuals that age unless warranted because they dont really need exfoliation or skin rejuvenation yet.

Hi, Doc! I have normal, acne prone skin. I use Cosrx BHA Power Liquid (4% Salicylic Acid) and The Ordinary 10% Lactic Acid. I use them alternately, at night time. Is it okay for me to use Benzoyl Peroxide in the morning? (I am currently using 5% BPO before my sunscreen) Or is it too strong? So far, I'm not experiencing any dryness or irritation. Last question po - I use The Ordinary 10% Niacinamide+1% Zinc for hyperpigmentations. I use it before my BPO every morning. Is that allowed? 🙈

Hi coline! to be able to give an accurate recommendation, a proper consultation is always best. It's very hard for us derms to give recommendations without seeing your skin and assessing you. But you can try naman BPO kc OTC naman cya for mild acne. pag nag react or nagdry then best to consult na talaga.

Yes you can add it to your routine. Anytime u use a product the increases skin turnover, may risk of purging but its not naman that common. Start slow ka muna :)

Hi Doc,sana mapansin po. May nirecommend po sa akin yung Derma ko na Allantoin facial wash, AHA toner and Acnoin T (Tretinoin). Pero upon reasearch ung Tretinoin is may indication na pwede lumabas pimples mo and possible peeling. Is it true po kaya? Good combination po ba ang AHA and Tretinoin? It depends. Pwede naman, but for comedones hindi kc enough ung exfoliation lng. You also need keratolytics (retinoids).

If yes u can probably slowly incorporate it into your nighttime routine. If not, i recommend you to have a proper consultation para maassess ng mabuti skin mo and mabigyan ka ng mas thorough na advice.

Glaiza Sison if you are oily u can use salicylic acid toner with adapalene. If not so much, low concentration glycolic or lactic acid if you want an exfoliating toner. Otherwise any alcohol-free toner should be ok :)
