I think acne is a good example of this, If a woman has acne or a lot of discolorations on her skin then I don't see anything wrong with covering it up to feel more confident in public.

"Presentable" for who? The goal of hijab is to not "look good" and it is something you observe and not just wear. The Prophet's wives and the female companions and the women of the early generations dressed in a way which was totally unrecognizable. If a woman applies any type of adornment, whether it is a little bit or alot, then she is sinful. Fear Allah and do not let Shaytan deceive you in this temporary life. We were put on this Earth to please Allah, not ourselves.

Exactly. Jazak Allahu khayra. Women are prohibited from enhancing their beauty in any way when they can possibly be seen by non-mahram men, but are encouraged to do so in front of their mahrams, especially their husbands. Sisters, makeup & enhancement & accentuation of your beauty is something you do in front of your husband, & it is also permissible in front of other women, your father, your grandfather, your husband's father, your brothers, your sons, your husband's sons, & small boys who have not yet reached the age of discernment. No Muslim woman should go out where non-mahram men will see her while wearing kohl/eyeliner, or neutral blush or lipstick, nor is she permitted to conceal her acne or dark circles to "feel confident" in front of strange men in the streets! I am a revert who formerly worked as a makeup artist & had severe acne, so I know firsthand what it is like to, for the sake of Allah, put my desires aside & bare my actual face in public instead of deceptively presenting myself in "natural makeup" as if I naturally had a bright undereye area, no acne, a totally even skintone, rosy cheeks & lips, etc. It was jihad an-nafs, as struggle against myself. El-hamdulillah, I have since been guided to wear niqab, which eliminates any temptation for me to have to correct my perceived imperfections before going out for necessary reasons. And el-hamdulillah, I get to have fun with makeup in front of my mahrams! So I don't feel that I have lost something! I still get to satisfy my natural desire to look beautiful! Muslim women must also know that they cannot wear makeup when a suitor comes to see them for the purpose of marriage. She should present herself as she naturally looks, instead of deceiving him by enhancing her beauty. He will be let down when he sees you don't actually wake up looking that way & that you have misrepresented yourself to tempt him to marry you. Be transparent & honest, my sisters. You can pull out all the stops to look great for him using makeup, hair products & tools, jewelry, clothing, perfume, etc. after he agrees to marry you as you naturally are! The truth is clear: makeup is to be worn in front of mahrams only. SubhanAllah. I can't believe this Abu Eesa individual is advising Muslim women toward sin. And I can't believe some in the comments section are falsely accusing the Sahabiyat of beautifying themselves with makeup & appearing in public adorned! We must fear Allah & only advise what is halal!

Dear muslimas, please don't wear makeup. Whatever your intention is, there is still a gray area. You want to look presentable. But can you still be presentable without makeup? Yes, of course. Natural makeup, clean makeup? Why, if you are barefaced, isn't that called natural and clean? Skin problems? Wearing makeup would make it worse, so better stick to natural and clean face. What even does natural and clean makeup mean? I am also a girl and I'm very conscious with my blemishes but I learned to accept them, because I was not born to please humans. We are born to please Allah(s.w.t). I hope you take thisto heart and mind

Make-up has existed since the stone ages and the desire to look "presentable" in women as well. I guess my question is, were the Muslim women/companions at the time of the prophet saw using light make-up in public, in front of non-mahram?
@sarahsiddiqui1298
@sarahsiddiqui1298 4 жыл бұрын
Actually, yes. There were many Sahabiyat who would wear eyeliner and also a type of blush or foundation on their faces while in public, and their faces were not covered. In fact, this was so common that there were times when one of the Sahabiyat would go out without it and people would wonder about it. Based on this, there were many classical scholars who condoned wearing eyeliner in public, and also others that condoned other types of makeup, as long as they are applied in moderation and are of a similar tone to the skin. Please see the video below. The speaker is a graduate of Fiqh and Usul al-Fiqh. She discusses all of what I've said. The part about makeup begins at 16:00: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qpfXfJ-OgNJ9Y8U

@@sarahsiddiqui1298 There is absolutely NO evidence that they wore these beauty aids outside of the home in front of non-mahram men. Audhubillah. The wives of the Prophet, sallAllahu 'alayhi wa sallam, & the Sahabiyat, are innocent of what you are accusing them of. Humaid bin Nafi narrated that Zainab bint Abi Salamah said: "I entered upon Umm Habibah, the wife of the Prophet, sallAllahu 'alayhi wa sallam, when her father Sufyan bin Harb died. So she asked for some perfume that contained some yellow saffron or something else, so a girl applied it to her and put some on her cheeks. Then she said: 'By Allah! I have no need for perfume except that I heard the Messenger of Allah, sallAllahu 'alayhi wa sallam, saying: "It is not lawful for a woman who believers in Allah and the Last Day to mourn for the dead more than three days, except for her husband (in which case it is) four months and ten days."'" sunnah.com/tirmidhi:1195 Are you, and the woman in the video you linked, truly claiming that the wife of the Prophet, sallAllahu 'alayhi wa sallam, then went out perfumed with the yellow-tinted saffron-containing fragrance she had been adorned with? Well back in the days the women wore khol, henna and rings, so if that is permitted according to many sahabah and Hazrat aisha then why is todays modest make up look haram? The scholars have prohibited it so that woman dont draw attention, but back in the days didnt henna, kohl, bracelets and a ring on a womans hand not draw attention, I believe simple minimum adoration is allowed, where does it say it's not allowed? If the khol etc was allowed today we have to have a modest level of makeup too.

I understand what the sheikh is thinking but I can wear zero makeup up, be fully covered with hijab including any shape of my body head to toe and there are still men who leer. It’s disgusting. Women don’t wear red lipstick for men. They wear it because it compliments a look or suits their personality. I personally don’t wear it but I know women who do and men stare at them with or without their red lipstick or make up in general. So the problem is Muslim men not lowering their gaze and non-Muslim men that don’t respect hijab.

@@Amatullaah.1 The Quran says: "O Prophet, enjoin the Believing women to restrain their gaze and guard their private parts, and not to display their adornment except that which is displayed of itself" [24:31] According to the companion of the Prophet, Ibn Abbas, and early Muslim scholars, this verse means that adornments like kohl, henna, rings, lipstick, and the like are permissible to wear in public. This is the view of Ibn Abbas and the majority of Muslim scholars throughout history, especially the Hanafi scholars. Thus, according to them, it is permissible for a woman to move out freely with the uncovered face in full make-up and adornment of the hands. On the other hand, some Hanbali and Shafi'i scholars think that women should cover their faces, but their evidences for this are very weak. Imam Al-Tabari said in his tafseer: "وأولى الأقوال في ذلك بالصواب قول من قال: عُني بذلك الوجه والكفان، يدخل في ذلك إذا كان كذلك: الكحل والخاتم والسوار والخضاب" ("The strongest and most accurate view is that which says that the exclusion (i.e. from what needs to be covered) refers to the face and the lower part of the hands up to the wrist. Also included are kohl, rings, bracelets and make-up. We say that this is the strongest and most accurate view") This saying of Ibn Abbas is authentic and this is the chain of transmission: أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو زَكَرِيَّا يَحْيَى بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى الْمُزَكِّي ، أنبأ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدُوسٍ ، ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الدَّارِمِيُّ ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا فِي قَوْلِهِ جَلَّ ثَنَاؤُهُ : وَلَا يُبْدِينَ زِينَتَهُنَّ إِلَّا مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهَا " وَالزِّينَةُ الظَّاهِرَةُ الْوَجْهُ وَكُحْلُ الْعَيْنِ ، وَخِضَابُ الْكَفِّ وَالْخَاتَمُ All of these men are trustworthy.

@@centric145 What you are claiming is outrageous. Audhubillah. How can any person quote the commandment of Allah, azza wa jal, for women to conceal their adornments (except what absolutely cannot be hidden & that shows without their intending it) & then twist this ayah to mean women can deck themselves out with "full makeup" and jewelry in front of non-mahram men?!?!? Does makeup & jewelry ordinarily appear & can they absolutely not be hidden from strange men, or are they beauty aids with which a woman adorns & adds to herself purposely with the intention of looking more attractive? No person of sound intellect will claim the former. SubhanAllah. In Tafsir ibn Kathir, it says: "(and not to show off their adornment except that which is apparent,) means, they should not show anything of their adornment to non-Mahram men except for whatever it is impossible to hide. Ibn Mas`ud said: 'Such as clothes and outer garments,'' Meaning what the Arab women used to wear of the veil which covered their clothes and whatever showed from underneath the outer garment. There is no blame on her for this, because this is something that she cannot conceal. Similar to that is what appears of her lower garment and what she cannot conceal. Al-Hasan, Ibn Sirin, Abu Al-Jawza', Ibrahim An-Nakha`i and others also had the same view as Ibn Mas`ud." quranx.com/tafsirs/24.31 A woman can be considered innocent of displaying her beauty if, for example, the wind blows her otherwise loose clothing against her body & her shape is displayed without her intending it, because she could not avoid this. But to decorate herself with makeup, jewelry & henna intentionally? This is not what ordinarily, unintentionally appears & anyone woman who does this is undoubtedly sinful.

Best explanation I have seen. There is a science to makeup most people are not aware of. There reasons for certain types of makeup and why our brains are wired to perceive those things attractive. It was very interesting to learn. Makeup creates allusion of better symmetry and a healthy glow which are all indications of good genes and good health. But makeup also stimulates fertility and arrousal which is pleasing to the brain. When a women is fertile her lips deepen in color and blushes. Hence the use of lip stick and blush. When a women is arroused her eyes widen and flutter. Hence why eyeshadow, eye liner, and mascara is used. Plus full lashes and long shiny hair are indications of good health. Interesting too when a women has children her hair darkens with each pregnancy, hence why blond is so desired. Human beauty is all about passing good genes to the next generation. I did an experient, I went with and without makeup. People, including women as well as men who claim to hate makeup, are in a very noticable way more friendly to the the with makeup.

Some careers demand women wear make up. I have discovered that when I wear make up people are kinder to me. Even people who claim dont believe in make up. I would like to wear make up when going out with my husband so I present him well. I would be crushed if people thought my husbands love for me is charity.

@@sonaangel2565 why do some jobs require make up or why are people nicer when you where make up. Some business need an image of class to create business or need to look professional. Their staff reflect the company and some people think a women is a slob for mot wearing make up. People are nicer when you wear make up because people are rather shallow. People are also nicer when you are wealthy and think. Thats just how it is.

@@mishalwr8800 I meant reppresent. I would hate for people to think my husband had a slub for a wife. I want my husband to feel proud of me and like he married well. My husband to be is a very handsome man. I kinda feel a bit insecure. I am not much to look at and I am over weight. So I need all the help I can get. We live in a very shallow world. Everyone is judged by their appearences, I just want to be my husbands blessing. If he can feel like he can show me off, isnt that a good thing? I live in a very shallow community. Not wearing make up is looked down on. I dont wear make up to work or when I am doing my daily life. I like to just for my hubby and when takes me out.

@@mishalwr8800 it could be an excuse too. I like to feel attractive for my husband and for him to be proud of me being his wife. I miss feeling pretty. Modesty is new to me. I never knew feeling pretty was my cruch. I miss it.

Your mother is guiding you to obedience to Allah, azza wa jal, & you are fatwa shopping for an opinion that satisfies your desires while also insulting your mother. SubhanAllah. May Allah, subhanahu wa ta'ala, bless your mother & compensate her for the difficulties she has faced from having a rebellious, disrespectful daughter, & may He grant you a desire to conceal your beauty from non-mahrams rather than a desire to enhance it, & may He humble you & make you the best of daughters who uses the best of speech. Ameen.
