Happy New Year, Scott. Most of the ebm/Papst fans in older HP gear use ball bearings that are replaceable - I keep a supply on hand. Even with new bearings some of them remain quite noisy. Looks like you will need to find a Hitachi HM4864P-3 DRAM chip to replace A30U209.

You should keep the original fan but just reduce the voltage to, say, 18V with a LM7818. That fan is very high quality. You probably won't find metal fans like that any more. If they do exist, they'll be VERY expensive indeed.

The U on the fan is "Umdrehungen" or ROTATIONS in english so is an abreviation to indicate RPM.

Those fans are noisy and really expensive and the new ones aren't much quieter. I hope you can save this DSA though. I have faith!!

Fan noise seem okay is it just the airflow I should imagine it would be quite high for a single fan to cover the whole unit ?

I presume louder on camera as well......but maybe a more efficient, modern fan might give the same airflow but with a lower noise.

Does make me wonder if you could have a mechanical fault as it looks like it’s been dropped. I think Simon Spiers had one of these that he scrapped do to a bad CRT board. I will ask him if he has any spare boards. Any signs of damage to the mother board cracks etc

You can get them from pomona as part of this kit: www.pomonaelectronics.com/products/deluxe-electronic-dmm-test-lead-kit I expect you can get them separately too, they are called model 6262.
