I remember running this on a GT 9800 (top tier version) That was wild back in the day booting this game up and being blown away.

Back in the day, I was running a ATI Radeon HD 2600 PRO and Athlon 64 X2 3600+. Oh those good old days.

I remember upgrading to a pair of watercooled 8800gtx's to play Crysis back in the day and it still struggled, whole system was overclocked as high as i could get it with a water chiller setup. Fun times :)

Think the agp system is perhaps limited by the processor there maybe ? Feel free too try an Athlon 64 X2 6000+ Just needs a bios update for that motherboard & try the later generation agp gpus again like the 7600 gs, ati x1600 pro & hd 3650 agp.
