I think the important concept here is not the engine but that liquid nitrogen which could in a way be use as a fuel. That engine just shows the potential energy of the liquid nitrogen changing back to gas form which is abundant. Subscribed.
@ClockworkCrow7
@ClockworkCrow7 Жыл бұрын
The problem is the required energy to chill and compress the nitrogen into its liquid form & keeping it at that temperature constantly, and what engines are there to control the release of the fuel? And how would the powers that be implement safety measures? The general population isn't nearly as science & safety minded as many wish they were.

@@jevinliu4658 One of the most common, low-complexity, low-cost, low-impulse thrusters used in space, mostly for minor maneuvering, is the simple cold gas thruster, typically with nitrogen. You just open the valve and the high pressure gas escapes out a nozzle, giving decent thrust. The thrust to weight is pretty low, as I understand it, but it's so reliable, that it has great use over long-duration missions.

That's really cool! So it's basically like having rockets at the tips, which also can go as fast as they want, in theory. Well, as long as there's still fuel.

Could you make a self stabilizing copter thing where you have this mechanic for the outer blades and a push/pull fan system relocating the air around the craft to the spinning blades? (or, would it be possible to create something like that in practice that could at least somewhat function or stay in the air at the for a little while?)

I have done something similar with a steam engine (really a vapour engine) in a vacuum. It really helps if you heat up the machinery and water before putting in the vacuum.
