Eh. You can. Marriage has nothing to do with love to begin with. It's financial and relgious. I view the common belief equating the two as a major contributor to the failure of numerous marriages. It's a strong implication that the relationship isn't even real before you marry. 😅 If the relationship isn't valid to you I'm out. Marriage won't make it more valid. It'll just feel hallow broken and become a prison. Resentment will quickly fester. Howrver, I do agree with your first point. Friendship and trust are the main things that maintain and form a romantic relationship not just that spark we associate with the desire to breed or the comfort and security we commonly associate with most romantic scenarios.
@dragonsman4733Ай бұрын
@@jocomfiresin6982 I partly disagree. The original purpose of marriage has everything to do with love, it was a promise to stay loyal to each other so that they can raise kids, rather than having kids beforehand when they don't have the proper preparations, and cheat on each other later on the small chance they get bored rather than a healthy divorce that benefits the family still. It's why Christians have sex after marriage, as to create a final tie of the knot to the relationship, and be responsible. Unfortunately with bad economy, inflation, etc, it's been twisted into a financial thing, and turned into what you just described for a lot of non religious people.
@ginsi936Ай бұрын
@@jocomfiresin6982In todays socioeconomic world marriage is much less forced between two parties as a woman is no longer incapable of doing basic societal things such as buy a house without their husband on the side. Thus women have a bigger right to choose their partner and this often leads to them being in love with eachother. However I do see your point, as it wasn't a love thing like 400 or more years ago. Back then it was just a basic thing women and men both had to do and if someone was not married at a late age, I would assume they got ridiculed because of it. Thus there being social pressure for both men and women and financial pressure for women.
@moczsАй бұрын
@@jocomfiresin6982 Even though many arranged marriage happened for those reasons, it's not necessarily the case. Both western juridical and religious systems imply that love is (normally) supposed to unite the two lovers. According to most western juridical systems, lack of intimacy and love can be a reasonable reason for divorce. As for religion (I'll take Christianity as it is more reliable for me and more widespread in the West), regardless of what some illiterate teachers have said, scriptures talk about marital duty and the importance of intimacy within a married couple and there's even a whole book in the Bible dedicated to marital love (Songs of Solomon). Refusing to please your wife/husband (except for obvious good reasons) would be considered as a sin, which means lack of love is abnormal for a couple. But you're right when saying that marriage is also an agreement. But love should always be a major component. Hard to stick with a horrible person.

No. NO. stop that. The directions on the box aren’t trying to trick you. They want the pasta to be good. Bring water to a ROLLING BOIL. ADD SALT ( do around 1/8 cup or more, as my mother says, your water should be “salty like the sea” ) SET TIMER (if box says 8-10 minutes, set timer for 8) then add pasta and stir immediately. Stir every couple minutes or so. When you drain your pasta, save some of the salty pasta water (about a cup, I just put a glass measuring cup under my colander when I drain it) and use that in the sauce if it’s too thick. There’s no reason to make pasta the wrong way when it’s so easy to do it the right way. Given the carb/calorie cost of eating pasta, you would want it to be amazing. If knowing this, you still insist on doing it wrong, just as some kind of misplaced obstinacy, I think that says a lot about someone. Find a valid fight to fight and stop disrespecting yourself and your noodles. I used to make rice wrong, and then I listened to Chinese people, and now I make it correctly. People don’t come to a consensus over hundreds of years of preparing food just to be annoying or arbitrary. SEMI RELATED FACT: pasta was invented by the Chinese. So was paper! 💚

Second story (partway through listening): I always feel so dismayed when someone obviously wants to break up and is searching desperately for proof of something to justify it. You can break up for any reason or no reason! You don't have to justify your decision. In this case, the real reason she's looking to break up is because he acts oblivious to someone treating her badly and, when she tells him, he makes the choice to remain oblivious instead of believing and supporting her. But she could also break up with him because she doesn't like his face.

It really is fun watching you and Eva together, you laugh and have fun and I'm laughing and having fun right along with you!

I watched smosh read the same story about the family calling OP her husband’s best friend instead of wife so I was really excited to see your take on it

I love how Eva balances out Daniel's overly generous takes on the antagonists.

Gotta say though, saying you're Italian and calling pasta "noodles" kinda disqualifies you from using that card ever again ;)

I just got rejected, decided to stay friends, and just saw this. I think this is enough internet for now.

i'd love to see a person from these posts in Daniel's comment section one day. Their analysis are always super interesting

Daniel and Eva have a great dynamic with these because Daniel always gives them the benefit of the doubt and Eva doesn’t take any bullshit.

In the last one OP needs to remember her in-laws didn’t just do this to her, they did it to her husband too. If he wants to go no contact with them for their attempts to sabotage his marriage, that’s his right.
@StormSoughtАй бұрын
Yeah, I think she's trying to say that he doesn't have to do that for her, and she's willing to work through it with them, which I think is nice, and even a good thing to offer so he doesn't have regrets later, but I certainly wouldn't push it.

My wife's family did a bet as well. They just are a holes. My family is the polar opposite of my wife's. They were extremely friendly and loving to her and always want to talk to her.

Feels like half these comments just read the title and watched a little bit of the video just to give their opinion on friendships and that’s weird

Nah, you make the title a question, you get answers.

Ohhhh yeah the "best friend" wife's family is being mad disrespectful. This is raising my hair the same way it rises when someone insists on calling a trans person the wrong thing. They want a fight.

Alton Brown actually did an experiment with putting the pasta in before the water is boiling, and it didn't make a noticeable difference, just decreased the cook time a little. So at least for dry pasta, it's fine. Not that it should have mattered that much regardless within the story

My partner and I only roll our eyes at each other when genuinely stupidly silly things get said. For example, "No come back I need to eat your hand!"
