The position here is that parents are not allowed to stop a minor's choice of surgery on gender reassignment, and that the child can be removed from parents if the child wants this surgery. I am wondering on why a child can't buy alcohol or drive a car until they are of legal age or go to an R rated movie (based mostly on maturity), but they don't have to wait until 18 to make their life changing gender altering decision. No going back if they decide early. What a world.

It’s not that we won’t give a straight answer. He is giving deliberately vague answers so as to avoid having to actually acknowledge what she is asking. It’s the Motte and Bailey fallacy. He holds an extremist view, that he knows is indefensible, which is why he deliberately redirects answers toward the motte, an easier to defend position. When she asked about changing it to birthing person, he redirects to state women are persons, because he knows he cannot defend the position men give birth, which he tried desperately to avoid even answering. She did a good job pushing back with direct questions. It’s what we have to do, and we need our elected officials that will represent us to learn this and be better prepared. There were several instances where she could have caught him in the trap and forced him to admit it. As an example, the mutilation vs gender reassignment, as well as if kids can make such decisions. Don’t let them retreat the Motte. Take it on them off the bat: “Yes or no, should a 12 year old boy be able to make the decision to remove his penis?” Would be far more to the point than mutilation. Obviously AMAB people can't give birth (yet), but trans men absolutely can. Gender Identity is in your head. It's influenced by culture, societal constructs, and physiology, but it is simply what a person most strongly identifies with. Sex is in your pants and your chromosomes (among other places), it is a collection of physiological traits. It's not hard to understand that someone's Gender identity may be different from their sex characteristics. People who identify as men get periods, get pregnant, have vaginas etc... it's really not that hard to understand.
