Summary: Money buys happiness if one spends it right. On point!
@purpur7187

Even if money is spent correctly, it can not bring happiness to all people. If a person is unhappy and suffering, due to many reasons (mental disorders, disability, loss of loved ones, etc.), money will not bring him happiness even if he spends it correctly.
@ayeshak6822

@purpur7187 But there are ways to spend money that can alleviate these sufferings. For example, paying for a therapist who can help you navigate life through the pain, donating to charity when you realize there are others suffering more than you, setting up a foundation in honor of a lost loved one. It's really sad, but those who don't have enough money cannot afford to do these things. There's always prayer, though, which is a powerful, powerful thing (and is free!).

Money does buy happiness, period. It is literally the enabler of experiences. Whatever makes you happy, most likely you need money to do it. It is that simple. Travel the world? Money. Provide for your loved ones? Money. Adventurous experiences with friends? Money. Tasting the finest delicacies? Money. Reading the finest books? Money. The myth that money doesn't buy happiness was started so poor losers can sleep at night with the realization that they probably will never be happy. The average joe tells himself "money doesn't buy happiness!" with a smile on his face, in order that he may maintain his own delusions once more before going out to be beaten & battered by a world which overwhelms him constantly.

@@KevinJohnson-cv2no It does, to a certain extent. I make equivalent of 2000 USD/month in a developing country. And I'm happy and I can afford all I need. I lived abroad and I was making double of that, and I didn't feel any different. I felt the same. I was just doing different things. But that does not stand for happiness. You can be rich and happy and you can be rich and miserable.

Money is important for happiness as it gives us stability & allows us to become great, but the happiness experienced from fulfilling porpoise is priceless. People who like money simply for the fact it's wealth, or they just use it to indulge in pleasures tend to be very depressed, with the latter living disastrous degenerate lifestyles.

Great video! Thank you for posting this fantastic content. I have often contemplated whether money can buy happiness and the answer I have so far come to is, yes it can. The problem lies in the semantics of the word happiness. I believe we confuse happiness and joy. Happiness is brief and fleeting whereas joy is an inner peace that lasts. Money can buy many experiences and possessions that can bring much happiness but it cannot buy inner peace and joy. This comes from elsewhere, a place where money is not the currency or has the power to provide. Joy and peace are on a deeper spiritual level beyond happiness which is more concerned with fleeting emotions, thoughts and physical feeling and experience. So yes, money can buy happiness if it is spent well, but if you desire true inner peace and joy then you need to be looking elsewhere to find it.
@burgessjoshua1430

Money can also buy the time and energy needed to cultivate inner peace and discover joy within. It can’t buy those things, but if one is working 60+ hours a week just to stay alive they don’t have the time necessary to cultivate the inner landscape.

There is a theory in managing people that paying them more does not make them happy, but paying them less than they think they should be paid (or need to be paid to live) will definitely make them unhappy. They call it a "hygiene factor", meaning you have to maintain a certain level of income to not be unhappy, but that more income doesn't make you happy. I have always found this concept useful. Our wants expand to meet our income, so if your goal is freedom, the wise path is to limit your wants.

My mother once told me that the more things one has , the more one has to maintain. This i understand as having to watch over them because if you don’t sometimes other people or circumstances will find a way to make you part with them. This causes anxiety. The best I can expect of having enough money is that it may give enough independence to help myself or others in times of need or emergencies. As a worker I strived to save enough money to keep up my expenses for about six months, that way I had the independence to quit a job that was making me unhappy, and six months were in my mind enough time to invent another strategy of survival. Take it all away from you… you’ll see quickly that money buys you basic necessities. You are all spoiled.. watching this on your smart phones. I’ve been like you, I’ve been spoiled… I’ve also been homeless with nothing in my name. Had bag of clothes and two pairs of shoes. Clothes and shoes with holes in it. Used to walk around downtown dallas with a bag full of change. Money buys happiness. You just have to be the person who knows how to truly appreciate the little things and you have to know how to appreciate money. Those who don’t appreciate money- simply don’t know what it’s like to have nothing. Money buys food- air condition- a ride home- money buys clothes when it’s cold - heat- medicine when you’re sick- money buys electricity- a bed to sleep on- money buys you interview clothes so you can get a good job- money buys you healthy foods so you can have the energy to do the things you truly want to do. It’s not that deep yo. Live a day outside with nothing. And you’ll learn to appreciate everything

I've come to the same conclusion recently. Like to know how to spend money and to know what one really needs. And at the same time, knowing that there are policies and lots of advertisements, who «hook up» with a false need to buy their goods. Also, some people, when experiencing feelings of inferiority, tend to buy things to calm themselves. It can be a temporal feeling of unease or constant feeling of anxiety, hence consuming and the afterward rejoicement.

Personally If I/we ever get rich, I would fulfill my desires in improving in Dancing, Music, Health, Fitness, etc. by buying the things that I would need to use these for. And also this would buy me many time to focus on those things and also focus on developing myself and also improving my relationship with others.

Nothing can ''buy'' happiness, and you can't stay ''happy'' forever, being happy is a short rewarding feeling for doing something that matters to you or someone else. Being content with the way things are is definitely something money can buy, I couldn't be content with being broke and homeless. Money also buys you things that people percieve as a precursor to happiness, such as houses, cars, clothes, women, these are all fine things but again, happiness is a temporary state, and more often than not when those same rich people realize this you get the classic ''rich but unhappy'' trope. Once again tho, it's better to have money than not, and I'd take being rich over poor 24/7/365 , as would any sane person in the world.

Buying something is giving us "an experience", or if we choose to see what it's giving us. 1. An expensive car - someone would buy it for status and envy, yet if that person see on where it can take you and the freedom it gives you would be the better way. 2. A pricey Rolex - Again it's purchased because you have the means to for status, yet if you see it as a symbol to use your time wisely and value the time you have is key. 3. I just bought an cheaper pair of wireless earbuds, last night. I don't see it as a frugal or worthless venture. It's something that I will use everyday, and give a lot of value to listening to music I enjoy. The things we accumulate are like words, they only hold the value in which we give them.

I grew up very poor in Puerto Rico and I can definitely tell you that money can make life a lot easier and more comfortable but it won’t change an ugly negative mindset and it won’t fix any personal problems like insecurity or broken relationships but money can buy certain pleasures that can make one happy so it’s like a yes-no answer thingy

Money buys the basics we need to live a good and fulfilling life. That people can't hardly afford these basics even though they trade the majority of their time and energy is unsustainable particularly in a consumerist economy.

you got it man that's exactly the problem. one has no happiness OR freedom if they are forced to give up their time and energy for less compensation than can buy back their time ad more. people who do the actual work are getting robbed daily by the capitalist who exploits the worker and extracts the value they produce.

I have to agree that merely giving to others is not enough. I have given money to random people and done deeds to be charitable but it did not really make me feel happy or joy. Maybe there was this initial “I have done something nice for someone” thought, but not sustaining. I agree that it has to be meaningful and one has to be able to see the benefit of giving to feel good about it. I have also helped out people that did not appear very grateful. So, merely giving does not increase happiness. As the video states, it varies. Good video.

Thanks for another great video. I have found that it's true that leisure time to write, experiences and travel give me greater happiness and joy than expensive possessions. As for giving, I'm a generous person and it does bring me joy to give, but I've found that there are a lot of takers in this world and giving for the sake of winning over friends or maintaining friendships is a path to unhappiness and being taken advantage of. Now, I give when I feel inspired to and that keeps away the parasites. :)

I think I'm pretty qualified to speak on this topic. I have dedicated the last 9 years of my life, from 26 to 35 to working. In that time I've bought and paid off a car and a house. And am now basically cruising. I've had tons of people tell me it's bad to work so much cuz I miss out on opportunities or experiences or whatever. While yes I didn't go camping or I didn't travel or BBQs with people, but the funny thing is. I never had the desire to do those things in the first place. So did I really miss out on doing things I never wanted to do? I don't think so. And as far as money making me happy? No, money itself doesn't make me happy, it's what having money brings me. Which is security, comfort and peace of mind. I'm happy not having the headache of having to deal with a leaking roof, flat tire, unexpected medical bill, or any other expense. Barring a catastrophic event, in which case money's not gonna matter anyway, I can deal with whatever comes my way. I'm totally happy going to work, going to the gym, working on my house, choosing who I want to hang out with and when I want to hang out. I can't say I'd do anything different if given the chance, it's worked out very well for me.

@yazmeliayzol624 I regret not doing any of the things I mentioned as much as I regret not sucking a dick. I don't regret not doing it. I regret not being smarter with my money. There's I'm not so and healthy. It really does depend on the person. Some people genuinely are happier alone others just say they are, possible because they don't have a choice to be lonely. The only thing I've convinced myself of is that I'm happy the way I am. And that's because I've tried everything else and I didn't like it. Other people are happy going out n drinking and doing all the things I hate, maybe they're compensating for something or maybe they're truly happy. I don't care, all I know is how I feel. and I feel happy, content and comfortable. The way I live my life works for me. I adapted to survive my environment and I also shaped it to my liking.

There was a study in the 80s-90s saying up to a certain amount yes money bring happiness, it was at the level of when all important needs like food, house etc are filled. But nowadays, when you compare yourself to others, most people won’t be happy with all their important needs filled.
